For the calendar year 2014, what knife or blade deal was the best you came across....your proudest buy?

Just one. Yeahright. OK, if you must list more than one break it into 'folder' and 'fixed.'

For me it was a Gryphon M-10 by way of a mention by another member here in a post. Sweetest EDC fixed I've bought in years:

Oh, and for a folder it was getting 'Dog to will me his SERE....

Southern Grind Bad Monkey, no contest. No. 2 would be the Guardian Tactical Helix. Both extremely nice knives, but the Bad Monkey exceeded my expectations more than the Helix. With the Helix I expected a premium knife, which is what I got. With the Bad Monkey I expected a very nice knife and ended up with a premium knife. I hope all of that makes sense.

This has been my first year of buying nicer knives outside of the big box stores, and it's no contest, lg. plain seb 21.
The only fixed I bought was an esee 4, and it takes care of all my fixed blade needs.

I have had a lot of awesome finds this year. But I think the one that deserves special mention is the Reate Horizon I was gifted on christmas. It would be an amazing knife at twice the price. But knowing that it was made in china and has the level of fit and finish it possesses is exciting. At the price they sell them for? You just want to laugh when flipping it.

A vintage 1970's Browning 4018F Lock Back knife. Saw it at a pawn shop for ten bucks. Sprung on it.

Big Chris Hunter in 10V, I've used the hell out of it and it just doesn't get dull. Fit and finish was perfect and it's very comfortable. At first I thought I overpaid but after using it extensively I would've paid more.

I agree, I had a District 9 and it was perfect other than the size. It blew away every other flipper I've handled. If it had a 3" blade and was 7"-7.5" overall it'd be my edc.

Mine was 0562cf for $178 shipped. Was a limited offer and I ended up having to wait over 3 months. Ships out this week and should be here next week. I'm like a little school girl just waiting.

Kinda surprises even me, in a year when I finally got one of my "grail" knives, the Al Mar SERE 2000, that I pick something else, but the knife I got this year that I have been overwhelmingly happy with is the Kizer GTi.

Zero Tolerance 301st. I have carried it everyday since I got it and used it for pretty much all cutting tasks.

I ve been very happy with my Manix 2 s110v . But my best purchase in 2014 has been my Ritter Grip m390 . This has been become my most carried edc along with my pm2. IMO, the Ritter m390 is probably the best value Benchmade makes, since their price increase.

So did that Monkey get the Sebenza off your back?? :)

Fixed blade was my Busse Custom shop steak knife.Folder is hard to pick, my favorite is probably the Hinderer Eklipse!

That is both funny and ironic at the same time. I've never really been attracted to a Sebenza for 2 reasons, price and it never really spoke to me. Then after dishing out the $$$ for my GT Helix, I realized that "hey, I'm now operating in CRK territory". So for the past week, I've been looking at Sebenza's much more closely now.

So I guess the answer to your question would be....no, it didn't get it off of my back, in fact I'm currently lusting after one where I never have before!
