In general they sat around at dealers for years as I remember it.
These are the first French Kates that my wife bought in 2018 from a dealer . Consecutive Serial Numbers #20 & #21 of 25 made 281111 Yes I guess they did sit on some shelves for a while .

Those were her first ones but she has a few more too . Her Smalls :

I think that the French Kates have only been made in 2011 , 2012 , and 2015 . The blade date stamp is not readable because it sits too low into the handle at the joint .

In past years, requests have gone out for Butter&Molasses, French Ivory, Candy Cane and Christmas Tree Acrylics!!! Maybe it's time to renew the calls!!??!!
They are good at random patterns, but symmetricals, not so much!!
You'd think Butter & Molasses would work easily!!??

GEC made a lot more Contract knives in the earlier years than they do today I think!!
Here is a Bulldog Brand, made in 2009!! Nice Horn Handles!! Bill found that Horn was sometimes troublesome, and avoids it now; but these are great (for a safe Queen!!!) 😁 Bully Horn 1.jpgBully Horn 2.jpgBully Horn 3.jpgBully Horn 4.jpg
Note, the Bulldog was made on the #73 Tidioute pattern above it (in Bocote)! The Bulldog is a liner lock with Flush and Square joints!!

That one's an absolute beauty, Charlie! What is the round piece of stag with the UN-X-LD shield?
Hey Jim,
It's just a slice of the Stag "crown" with the Northfield shield set in it! Done by a friend, I sometimes put it into a pic with a shield-less Stag knife!!
