The Forefather Bowie Is Coming Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 At 9:PM Eastern!!! . . . If You Have A Good Imagination, You Could Score One Heck Of A Discount!!!

Yup Nuker Nuker I was hoping for the fuller to have full depth plunge ends ala TGLB, but these "feathered" ones likely provide less stress risers. I trust Jerry's decision.

I was hoping for there to be less sweep up to the tip-- a bit more dropped nearer or just below the midline with the swedge intersecting straight to the point like in the prelim. drawing.

That hollow swedge is very Forsaken-ish... was it the Forsaken TG that had a similar grind?

OTOH, it was a GFD and I feel like I'm stealing this legendary blade even considering my trivial quibbles! NO REGRETS!!!!

Whadda I know anyways? I don't craft em, I just buy em!

Is that a hollow ground swedge?🤨
What is happening there?
Appears that way.

First thought is I'd prefer the clip be more like the drawing, but we'll see once it arrives.
Kinda disappointed the way they did the Swedge.
At first look, I'd agree. I'll withhold judgement until I have mine in hand. But I was kind of hoping to sharpen the clip slightly, and this won't really work for that.

Looks like the Forsaken Battle Mistress to me.

The overall profile appears to match the drawing to me, just a much different swedge.

This perspective is the best and I like what I see

Still hoping for some cool variants

How's the balance and weight
It's very well balanced, just a hair blade heavy if your holding the handle and perfectly balanced if you have your index finger in the choil...
It's much lighter than I expected, it's a keeper for sure...

Obviously not perfect due to perspective, but this might help a bit.

Thanks for the side by side.

They should have done a straight v shaped swedge not the concave type like the Hellrazor 2, It ruins the look. (In my opinion)

Also the fuller looks better in the drawing :-(

OK, so my first thoughts based on what others have shown......

I was a bit disappointed that the swedge was not like the flat angled swedge shown in the line drawing. I think it looks better in the line drawing then what I was seeing in the photos people have posted.

But, after getting this in hand, I don't mind this style swedge as much. It's grown on me. Gives it a wider spine at the tip for strength (not that you'd be able to break this thing even without that) plus a better surface for batoning if you're into that sort of thing.

Upon first getting it in hand, my immediate reaction was "WHOA! This is one big bad bowie!" and I'm used to other large Busse offerings so to still be impressed is kind of cool.

Second, it feels good in hand. I like this handle. First coffin shaped handle Busse I've owned.

The perimeter is fully rounded and the swedge is definitely hollow ground as you'll see.

At least in the brief few moments I was able to check it out, thanks to that crowned perimeter, I was able to put my thumb over the top guard and on to the spine (with finger in the choil) without any discomfort. I had concerns about that but am happy to see that I don't think it'll be an issue.

Only downside for me is that I believe I got stonewashed instead of the Comp finish I ordered. I'll have to get in touch with the shop about that.

If anyone else ordered a Comp, please post some pics so I can compare with yours. I've got other stonewashed and Comp finished Busses and this looks stonewashed to me but would like to see pics from others who ordered Comp finish. C creekstomper appears to have ordered one? Hard to tell.

Anyways, on to the pics. Sitting cramped in the car on lunch but the lighting was decent so should provide good info still.
