The Great Troll Road; pay at the gate

I don't understand the connection between spiraltwista and Simon. Pardon my complete ignorance of IP addresses. I assume that people can have the same IP address even if located in two different households?

Nonetheless, this has been one pathetic soap opera episode.

As best I have been able to determine, the three finest private collections of kukris belong to John Powell (JPSF) in San Francisco, Jonathan (Spriraltwista) in England, and Rod Allen (inveterate) in Australia. Uncle Bill sometimes referred to some other kukri collectors, but they have never surfaced`on the internet.
Spiral and Simon are friends. Simon is a MA instructor who imports kukris, prepared to his design, often with help from Spiral. Neither of them can spell their way out of a wet paper bag. :D

Much earlier Spiral had written me that he was not involved in the inflamatory thread. I believed him, and even corrected a post of mine. I am relieved now to know Spiral exists apart from Simon.

I was wondering about that. One of the problems with private 'research', or collections, is not neccesarily being aware of other efforts.

If you still wish to believe Simon was all four personas, then fine. I know differently, I know the truth and thats all I need to know.

I'm sad for all that has gone down here and wish no further part of it.

I wish HI & BF all the best for the future.

Kohie! We wished Tora well when Tora did not wish itself well, and injured friends.
How many guesses would be fair for us to have?

How about a world where all the good khukuris are welcome, in both new and old forms, style, intention and use?

take care,

For the sake of future reference
(& to the best of my knowledge,
please correct any errors)
it is easily possible for one person
to have multiple IPs
or for multiple people to have one IP address.

And I'm sure the Big Mods on the board have all this detail in hand.
And I'm sure in 'this' instance it's not relevent.

I'm on an as-needed IP address,
when my network router connects to the internet
It is assigned an available IP from a shared pool.
There are 3 computers that share that router
& so are identified as the same IP during a given period.
Once that router releases the connection,
the IP is in a pool available to anyone else on the same dsl system.

FWIW

Oh. & some computers are connected 'permanently'
to their internet provider & -always- have the same IP.
Or at least their home network may -always- have the same IP.

Depends on which service thru which provider (isp)

I apologize if my "yellow brick road" blast above was out of place.

I probably don't know enough about the situation to comment, and sarcasm sometimes needs to be reserved for trained professionals, one of which I am not.

If it is thought necessary, I will gladly go back and eliminate it.

Thanks,

What's that phrase, "stand down." Everyone stand down. We're OK. This too shall pass.

So glad this is over (for now at least). I was ahh....becoming annoyed. Thanks to all the mods for taking care of this.

Ahhh man, I just don't know anymore. I went over there to try and extend an olive branch, risk all your guys ire and disapproval to do so, and come back from the weekend to find it all hacked to pieces and laying around. I don't know who Simon is or isn't. I know I told him he would be better off leaving HI alone, and even if he didn't post himself, he encouraged his buddies to. I tried to understand where he is coming from, he does have some good points too, if you are willing to read around the insults and attacks. But drunken foolishness with friends or not, this shouldn't have happened. I give up.

Interesting reading on the tora forums, it seems it was all done just to improve HI's products, and they are glad to see that everyone agrees with the points they made. They certainly have unique reading comprehension abilities.

I knew he existed apart from Simon, but also that they are friends.

I know Jonathan has had some trouble on this forum, but don't really know why (and am not trying to dredge any old threads up.) I also know he is extremely knowledgeable about kukris and a purist when it comes to them. I bought one of the old heavy Foxes Folly's from him and he was great to deal with. The thing is so heavy as to be almost unusable, but I wanted one of the original Kumar ones for my collection.

Regards,

Norm

I saw picts of that FF, that is a great one! What do you mean too heavy? How heavy is it? I bet it'll do anything a 20" AK will.

Well, I guess it's all relative and depends on ability and strength, but at 21" OAL it is 50 oz., and that is a bit much for me to swing for any great length of time. It will certainly do anything a 20" AK will, but is much more forward heavy so is harder on the wrist. My 20" AK is lighter than yours I think, but at 35 oz. is much easier to swing. For chopping with a good balance of weight vs. length, the 20" 40 oz. Samsher is a good choice as well.

I don't remember what my 20" AK villager weighs, but not as much as 50 oz. Should make a great felling blade or delimber.

I agree, the situation could have been handled much better, as could the whole subject. However, as I have previously stated, what is done is done. There is too much water under the bridge to clear this up, so I'm not even gonna try.

Leanne

Leanne,

I've been out a few days and just became aware of this thread.

I regret that the situation developed in the way it did.

You have always seemed to me to be a person of high integrity. Simon is fortunate to have such a partner as you.

Namaste, to you both.
