The Hinderer bug

I noticed their web site really has little available. Says out of stock on much. I suspect most go their dealers first and little if any is left.

Hinderer works very closely with their dealers and wants their knives to be sold through them. They really only do accessories, pens and specialty very limited stuff through their site.

I think I have got the Hinderer bug :)

My first contact with hinderer has been through the ZT 0550 gen.3 and ZT 0562cf.
Very good knives and I was fine with them for years.

At least until last December.
I decided to give the ZT 0393 a try and it has impressed me so much that I decided to try a real Hinderer

So I placed an order for a Halft Track gen 2.
This knife has impressed me so much that I have ordered a Slippy.
I am now looking to try a XM-18.... ;)

I will have to sale some knives to fund all this ;)

But I have to say I am really impressed by the construction, action and ergonomics on the half track and Slippy.

I am usually a CRK/Spyderco fanboy, I think the hinderer thing is also growing inside me ;)

I don’t know if others have experienced some designer and felt like a connexion / understanding of the concept of their work but that is great.

When I first got the 0562 I think I didn’t get the purpose of the knife.
As time goes I think I like the approach of Hinderer more and more.

I had an Eklipse the knife was just very well built and an absolute tank. Despte being an absolute brick it was very comfortable in the hand if not so much the pocket.

Now the Hinderer I most want to try is one of their firetac models.

Please Hinderer:

XM18 Gen6 3.5 no choil Spearpoint and/or Slicer
Half Track Gen2 Spearpoint
Full Track DLT M390 fixed/redesigned

Skip the Tantos and Wharncliffes and Two Tone stuff :)

Seldom see the Tantos on the -18. At least, I haven't. I'm with you on Wharncliffes, I guess whittlers like them though.

I think my next Hinderer will be a Spearpoint XM-24, perhaps even in battle bronze.

Got my 3” recurve back from the Ranch! 2 week turnaround and returned to me like new! Great service from the crew at RHK!

Got it REAL bad. Ordered 2 more today. :O

LOL. I almost pulled the trigger on a Battle Bronze XM-24 last night. I'm going to hold out for the spearpoints to be released with the Tri-Way though since I already have a Spanto.

My search for a titanium XM-24 scale continues to turn up nothing too.

I'll agree that the previous Generations don't hold their value as well. Neither does the Slipjoint, Firetac, and certain bladeshapes are better than others. The slicer and sheepsfoot seem to do pretty well. Great knife though if you like a titanium flipper.
How much do you think a used XM18 3" sells for nowadays?

I have my XM but still have an itch. I need a Pond scum scale yesterday for my XM 3.5! Can somebody point me in the right direction? It's impossible to find.
There is a Pond Scum scale on eBay right now..
Currently @ $140.

Lol. I saw that. One of my boys on here pointed that out. Absolutely ridiculous. I'd pay $75 max. It was at $95 on the first bid. I'm sure one of our members will find one to sell at a reasonable price some day. Until then there are so many options.

Depends on the Gen. eBay is a good place to get a feel for used market prices...
How do you know which gen you have? I purchased a Triple Aught Design Hinderer 3" spanto collaboration that was released in October 2017

The XM-24 looks very good but it is too big for me
I will wait for an 18 3.5 spanto

I keep getting the itch for another 3” XM. Love the look of the no choil slicers, but I vastly prefer the older, no lock insert, gens. Oh well, I guess a standard slicer or harpoon tanto would do just fine :p.
