Note that we have a weight now on the Basic 8: approx. 14.3 oz.

Need to get home and weigh my SBR and B10 for comparison.

B10 shows 14.6 On Busse spec chart.

I would have guessed that the B8 and B10 would be very similar in overall weight. The convex grind on the B8 is likely to mean significantly more meat out front.

I think these knives will fill different roles. The B10 is more a slashing blade, which can also be used to split large diameter wood due to the blade length, but is not really optimized for chopping - best to pair with a saw. The B8 will be more of a compact chopper / camp knife, but not so useful for processing large pieces of wood.

That's a substantial weight for .22" thickness--very nicely matched up grind-to-thickness-to-length IMO.

So she'd got some meat on her bones! Sounds good to me!!!!
I'll tell you how well she chops veggies in the kitchen in two weeks. ;)

Any that's skinny maybe...

Such as under .18

Per Pokey in the Sticky on Ordering:

The Limited Edition Basic 8 will NEVER be offered again . You have your choice of Tan Resiprene C or Black Resiprene C.

I would venture to guess that this will be the one and only offering at this thickness....No Skinny or Heavy Ordinance planned?!!!:(

I choose to focus on the LE part of that statement. The LE version won't be offered again. Keeping the hope alive for a CG version. :D

Ummmmm...

Why don't we all just keep this thread up top until Pokey posts the go? I mean I think it deserves it don't you?

It will be easy yo keep track of when the "GO GO GO" gets posted (unless she posts it on another forum of course.....She is tricksy ya know):D

The Camp Tramp (coated) is 14.5 oz for comparison. (another person found their camp tramp was 13.5 oz.)

Also, more of the weight for the B8 will be outside of the handle than the CT (CT had thicker steel in the handle + coating). This should be a satisfyingly blade-balanced knife!

Eventually, it's going to take all of my brain cells to hit F5 and time my email. I don't expect to be too chatty during the hour of eternal awesomeness.
