Saturday morning Bump....Maybe some of Jerry's NEW INFI???

Quick 3 question for you all . . .

1. Do you guys think the Work Sharp KO edition would suffice to maintain the convex edge?
2. I much prefer my Wicked Edge -- so would converting the edge to a V gring at 20 degrees each side require too much metal to be ground off and would it hinder performance in any noticeable way? Keep in mind id be putting a highly refined mirror polished edge with a .5 micron apex
3. Im considering acquiring a B8 le that has had the shoulders thinned with a very low grit stone that has left deep scratches in it (on purpose) --- will this render the knife any less capable than factory new for reasonable usage (no concrete bashing here)?

Thanks all and congrats on making the B8 a reality!

Nope, nope, nope. Not sinking like that.

Hey Rob,

I was hoping someone who has sharpened a B8 on the KO would have answered by now as I don't know the answer to the first question. As for questions #2 & #3, if you prefer a "V" edge, and you haven't picked up a B8 yet, you might try finding a CG version, as those came with "V" edges. You'll likely need to knock the shoulders back on those too though, so if you don't mind re-profiling the LE you have a lead on and prefer satin blades, that would be the one to go with. Since you have the Wicked Edge, maintaining the edge angle will be a piece of cake once you have it where you like it.

Hope that helped!;)

Awesome! That did help -- thanks brother! I'll be on the lookout for either the CG or LE -- whichever is the better deal

I know the non-KO version of the work sharp does great with convex edges. There's a platen that an be removed to give the slack. I don't know if the KO version would add any benefit over the standard.
