I'll take the mystery out of it. Cbear gifted me a very nice Ratmandu that I was drooling over at GLIB. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Awesome score!!

And way to be Cbear!!

Love the ergos on the RMD. The drop point version is one of my top knives.

In other news. A co-worker of mine told me he bought a 6 dollar knife off the big river site.

Two things occurred to me at that moment.

1. I knew the country of origin
2. If it does the job he needs it to do, then I'm ok with it. (sort of)

Thank you sir. Hey Dubz, I did the sink sprayer mod to the Zodi shower today and it is badass. I highly recommend it.

You're welcome.

I'll probably end up doing that. It really makes sense to have it like that.

It's the Tradewater... Top secret is the way to talk to him! Didn't you know that?!

I am NOT posting the Goatse links. However if you google it with safe search turned off... Mind you, make sure the wife and kids are not around... Or a boss.
one was enough for me....I think WW got that one right.
Very cool!
Gotta honor the Mods....:D
Actually that's more like some very professional brown-nosing.....

That is very....magnanimous of you.
....my last P.O.S. I bought was a dual action, scale release auto from the exchange for $12. It actually works flawlessly and has "STAINLESS" stamped right into the blade so you know it won't rust on ya. Hard to believe that something like that can even be built for a price like that, let alone actually cut anything. We aren't paying those folks nearly enough. But they still have a lot of pit toilets, so their cost of living is prolly pretty low.....

, Trade! That was a very kind gesture, Cbear!

I think I'm still in a food coma from dinner and lots of beer at one of my favorite local brew pubs last night and from snacking on these homemade white chocolate chip & macadamia nut cookies the wife made yesterday for my B-day.
Ugh.... Fat and happy.

Happy late b-day Jerry!!

Mike, that Katalox is amazing looking. First time i have seen it and LOVE it. I have a plan for it already!!

Excellent, Smithers! Katalox AKA Mexican Ebony....I have some of that with grain that is....really interesting. Be careful, it's VERY dense and will dull tools quickly. But it'll also take a polish like synthetics.

Happy Birthday, Jerry!
I also want to thank you for pointing us (me) in the direction of Todd's giveaway....that turned out pretty OK for me ;).

Thanks, Dubs & Granite. Granite, no problem! Oh, and I'd say it went OK for you! Haha! The Magua is an awesome blade. So.... Have you given it any though as to how you're going to have him dress it up?

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Headed back down to rural Southern Indiana. I'm going to visit the folks, have a drink with some old friends and blow the dust off of my old Wrangler in storage and take it for a spin. I might even be able to play with a new stove design.

I have....but I've yet to talk to Todd to see if it might be doable. Hopefully it'll involve some pink in memory of my sister, since I consider this as kind of a gift from her as well....

That sounds like a pretty good weekend. I have a friend who is a firm believer in the concept of the "birthday week". He thinks that just one day to celebrate your existence here on earth is far too little....I concur. Enjoy yourself.

Happy b-day Jerry. Sounds like a good one with a good follow up weekend.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting out of the city for a bit.
Happy Birthday Jerry. Kay seconds that.
Thanks, Trade & Kay!
happy b-day Jerry!
Thank you kindly!

That sounds like it would be quite fitting. Todd's a pretty creative guy with a big bag of tricks. I'm sure he'll be able to get you fixed up with something nice.

I'm looking forward to it, and yes, you have to stretch it out as long as possible just like TBL did.

I want the top one in full size.

I'm sure someone around here makes something similar.
Very Slowly.

one of the Muelas was part of the influence to start me knife-making. I liked the shape and didn't want to shell out the dough for a Spanish knife.

Hm. "shell out the dough" is a completely messed up metaphor. "Roll out the dough" or "Shell out the peas" might make more sense.

It is definitely some nice looking wood!! You get it locally?

Yeah, the local Woodcraft had it for what I thought was a killer deal. I would have taken all of it if I could have figured out some use for it. I do a little "impulse" buying of wood....day before yesterday I was pawing through the shorts bin at an AWESOME lumber dealer that I happened to be working nearby and ended up with little pieces of black walnut, birdseye maple, sapele and an outrageously figured bubinga slab. I've been collecting wood for prolly 40 years now......someday I might even make some shtuff with it.
