Mornin' all. Gonna be a beautiful day! I'm about to head home from work and got nothing planned until 11 pm when I have to come back to work. Well, I'll probably sleep a little but other than that it's wide open. I just might head on out to our little municipal lake and trail walk up the creek that feeds into it. Ya never know what you will find. I'll check in later with pics if there's anything good.

GSOM, WW - I had never heard of katalox until last week when I saw a pic from wildnewfie in an old thread. So I pm 'd him and he identified the wood used for a set of scales he had made. Now I'm hearing about it again. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.

Yeah, the local Woodcraft had it for what I thought was a killer deal. I would have taken all of it if I could have figured out some use for it. I do a little "impulse" buying of wood....day before yesterday I was pawing through the shorts bin at an AWESOME lumber dealer that I happened to be working nearby and ended up with little pieces of black walnut, birdseye maple, sapele and an outrageously figured bubinga slab. I've been collecting wood for prolly 40 years now......someday I might even make some shtuff with it.

Thats funny!!

I often search the web just looking at wood. Id like to buy so much of it but i never had a use for it really... Until NOW!!! I was looking for some more of the Katalox already, i love it. I put a single thin coat of tung oil on a section of it... Its going to finish beautifully! I sent a picture to my father and he says that would be perfect for the word "wood" in my logo that he is making me. So i might have to order a bit for him because he cant have my piece LMAO, even though he would use it for me... I want to put that on a knife!!

thats called THE BAADER-MEINHOF PHENOMENON

:D

Thats right... I taught yall something

It seems like I've heard that before... It must just be a coincidence... :D

LMAO, i was thinking someone was going to say "hey i just heard about that" !!

I heard about it in a TV show a few weeks back, cant remember what show now though, and had to google the name to get it right LOL.

Happy Birthday Jerry!

I donno, week long birthday celebrations tend to turn out kinda nice :P as long as you don't stick it in everybody's face ;)

Saturday we're getting rid of all the kids and going to my companies 'Annual General Meeting' aka Christmas Party. The wife apparently has one more surprise for my bday  I got a little sneak peek of it in the hot tub last night :D

Happy late b-day, Jerry! (for those who have not had the pleasure of meeting that rascal in person, I assure you... he's a hoot to have around the campfire, and he's a great example of a fun-loving Beckerhead :) )

In other news. A co-worker of mine told me he bought a 6 dollar knife off the big river site.

Two things occurred to me at that moment.

1. I knew the country of origin
2. If it does the job he needs it to do, then I'm ok with it. (sort of)

These things happen. To each their own.

In other news, please also think a happy thought for Miss Angie today... it's her birthday. :)

I'm thinking happy thoughts for the missus, JT. Please wish her a happy birthday for me.

.....that word "happy" looks funny to me right now, like it's gibberish or something.....strange how that happens sometimes....

Katalox looks like some attractive wood.

Alright, one more work day until the weekend. This shouldn't be too bad, right?
The little lady is running up to meet some of her friends back on the side of the state she hails from to see a movie tonight. I think this evening after work I may have to swing by one of the breweries, fill a growler or two, head back home to crank up Black Label society and work on my stack of Old Hickory knives that need a bit of attention.

Lies, all of them! ......But thanks for the nice words and well-wishes, James. Kindly wish Miss Angie a Happy Birthday for me.

"Weird" has always looked... well, weird to me. :p

That sounds like a real good way to spend an evening

The liquor store where I usually get my bourbon is in the process of building a pretty substantial addition, and the owner told me it's going to include taps so folks can fill growlers with various interesting beers. I'm looking forward to that :D

Happy birthday Jerry, ...... JT, give Angie my best as well....

I wish! You know how sometimes words you've seen a thousand times suddenly look different? Probably could've kept that stream of consciousness to myself....just figured everyone's had that experience.

I have, lots of times... Thats why i thought you been hitting the wacky tobaccy :D

Now NAP time.

Mornin' all. Gonna be a beautiful day!

Heck yeah. Every day above ground is a good day... or at least a chance to give it your best shot :)

Thanks brother, I'll be sure to pass that along. I'm not entirely sure why, but Ang likes you and your missus... :p

You're not the only one who's noticed that. Personally, I blame it on the rock'n'roll and being born weird. That probably doesn't make you feel any normaller, but there it is.
