The "I got nothing" thread

Well I've got nothing to do at work. There are 5 shops in my town, and nearly all of them have slowed to a crawl. So....all Beckerheads get $5 oil changes! :D

Today only, and you gotta bring your Becker collection with. ;)

I know the feeling, brother. A few check engine lights and an oil change or so, and we're out of work. Hell, I thought audis are supposed the break more! :D

Man I'd kill for more Check engine lights. We've got the touch screen Snap-on Verus scan tool that has been very under appreciated lately!

My truck doesn't have any such light for a check engine or any other such things. No computer; I love it. :D It's got nothing of the sort in it.

I'm a VW and Audi tech. You see the new A7 and A8? A8 has a metric shitton of computer-controlled gadegetry in it..

I can only imagine. I got rid of my '88 Chevy truck because I didn't like the computer. Now I only drive my '71. No more electronic crap for me and I can fix it myself. I think the most technical thing that will be in it is going to be my stereo system, and I'm ok with that :D

what i hate the most on newer cars is the tire pressure sensor. i like to run about 5 psi higher on the front and it takes a few resets for the computer to record the change and not beep at me every few miles...either that or the 32 deg f warning beep! i know it's freaking cold (and the tires will be less grippy), that's why i'm wearing winter clothes...too many lawyers involved nowadays.

read "lights out". when the emp hits, your truck will be one of the few that'll still run and will be worth it's weight in gold :D

Yet another reason to have an older vehicle.

Who wrote "lights out" ? I'd like to look at that.

OOOps wrong thread.:o I thought it was one of Ethan's threads about the new Becker prototype knives used at the PWYP. :D

"lights out" by david crawford. it used to be a free pdf but it took off so the author got it published.

Used to be a sticky over at the Frugal squirrels for it his pen name was Halffast or Halfast. good read.

I was under the impression that batteries & alts would also be fried because of an emp ?

I don't know if the electronics in an alternator or voltage regulator would be effected by an EMP or not. I know the battery wouldn't be.

Bought a new pushmower today. Ate at McDonalds on the way home. Wild. Nothing here.
