Very nice "machete":thumbup:, what i should say to my wife to get this machete (we married 6 months ago) ?
I already got RC5 for B'Day ;) and Izula for X'mass :D .. But i really want this machete! :)

How much is the street price for this machete?
It seems have perfect weight even for average Asian people

I like the "survival sheath" but I would like to see smaller buckles. It looks like they are twice the size needed but what do I know I don't make them

1" Buckles are the narrowest you can really trust in my Experiance.

Does that sheath open up like the Rat pack for the RC5/RC6?

This is funny to me. Busse Combat has a new Bushwacker Battle Mistress of about the same size and thickness coming out soon. On the Busse forum I referred to the new knife as a machete and caught hell for it. The "experts" all said that all machetes were long, thin, and flexible. They just could not abide the thought of a $350+ machete. As a Busse collector, I'll get one. I'd rather pay that much for a knife that actually works in the bush than those thick heavy ones that are only good for chopping wood. Naturally, I plan on getting the new Junglas machete, too. It will be interesting to compare them. I am betting there is not much difference in actual performance, not counting destruction testing which I don't do. Of course, for serious machete work, I'll take my highly tuned and slightly rusty $6.00 Tramontina 22" machete.

It is funny that the two knives have near identical specs. Any performance difference will probably be due to edge geometry more than anything else.

Hey naturalist, who's the cute girl standing begind your wife?

Looks like the RTAK 2, funny no one else has mentioned this. Are the specs the same ?

I think a couple people have mentioned that somewhere in here.. Specs aren't up yet on RAT Cutlery. Says they're going up right before the release @ SHOT Show Jan. 2010.

little diggin around here (first page of thread)

Weight: 22.5 ounce
O.A. Length: 16.5"
Cutting Edge Length: 10.0"
Thickness: .188"
Blade Width: 2.0"
Green Canvas Micarta Handles
Overall handle Thickness: .81"
Powder Coated Finish

It looking like an RTAK II isnt shocking, though there are some diffrences. this is a saber grind, and has no choil. the handle is also quite diffrent.

Ah, a fellow SE Asian!

First off, congrats for taking the plunge into marital bliss :D ;)

Secondly, that thought did somewhat cross my mind. Having handled a longer Tramontina, the "petite" size of the Junglas made me notice it. It actually reminds me of a Filipino "bolo" or itak. Its "right-size" affords it more utility to take on a lot of tasks.

Salamat!

Btw, that GIANT bird's looking at your wife funny. . .

Was about to ask that too. From the pictures alone though, I'm kind of liking the Junglas because of the thinner handle

I'm ordering one day one, and hopefully the optional sheath. But, I really like the RTAK II's handle..never had an issue with it.

Nice looking knife. I'm thinking I need to find some climatologist to explain to my wife that global warming will soon have the Boston area looking like the tropics... in which case, I'll definitely need one of these. This might also get me out of having to build the back yard skating rink this year (building it is not so bad, it's clearing all the snow of the dang thing that takes work).

Thanks, Geez but its almost an exact replica of the RTAK 2, I definately am going to get that survival sheath shown though, its way better than the cheap one supplied with the Ontario.

Let me know if this works out for ya, then I will give it a shot with my smart half.... of course if I never hear from ya again, I'll will have to think up a better reason... :D

Didnt see it mentioned and cant really tell 100% from the picture:

Does this puppy sport a choil?

BWHAHAHA!! Shotty my friend, you are quick! When are these RP'ers gonna learn not to leave that door wide open for you? On that note, I hope to make a TX RAT fest sooner than later. Your comments and the those of your Mrs lead me to believe that you two are a blast to party with:thumbup:...
Hopefully I'll have my Junglas Machete by then.

He needs to hurry up with that so my new Busse Bushwacker will have a home. I'd like one in Olive Green, please. :D

you read my mind Vic, I actually really want to buy my Junglas in one of those but I have a feeling the pack sheaths will be released well after the Junglas hit the shelves and I can't wait that long :D
