The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Assuming we are looking at the same knife, here is what I see.

The mismatch in "shoulder" height, seen here:

corresponds to this artifact on the show side:

Also, you can see that the choil itself was abraded by sharpening media. The factory doesn't blend it like this. Your knives Kettleman Kettleman are perfect in this regard.

It's hard to determine what else might be going on with the edge, although I do believe the tip was rounded. At the very least, you'd have to say that the knife is not new / unsharpened.
I really mean no disrespect with this, however Im guessing you've never actually held one of these that you are claiming such expertise on. I can show you everything you pointed out as an issue on both of mine.

These blades were hand ground by a human. These are not the stamped out widgets of today. Ill send a bunch of photos reproducing these on my knives to ben as he had the questions and he can share as he chooses.

Once this pic thing gets fixed I’ll post them.
I would hate to find out that we gave Ben some bad advice. Your pics show the rounded off tip, too? True, I don't have one of those, but the one under discussion looks quite different when compared to other recent pictures in this sub forum.

I dont get why the issue takes so long to sort out.

If u get unpatient try imgur. As a non payer(have been in the past, but it's hard to buy n sell beeing in scandinavia) I've used it for all my pictures. PM me if u want to try it and have problems buddy.

I think the pic showing the tip was a blur. Look at the first pic it showed a clean tip. That blur pic also shows a "horrible bevel" except it's normal in that first pic. Both of my hand ground knives have what today would be considered a large bevel. I think Ben is about to post a few shots I sent him to show very similar items on 2 of my blades, A P and an Original. Both with hand ground polished blades.

Of course we don't have the knife for a true comparison but I really think it was legit. I was going to buy it and sell it to a member here to keep it in the community. I instead gave a new guy ( you will meet him soon) a crack at the bigs. He held his own until the last second and got swooped.

I thank you for that. I actually tried it for most of last week and weekend. In the end its just too much of a mess to use and just way too "social" for me..

M Modernflame you definitely didn’t give me bad advice. I had hesitation an after seeing the pictures that were added later on. The description of “new” also didn’t set well with me. At the end of the day it’s just a knife. There will be another one. 😊

It's really not that bad; take picture - connect phone to laptop - choose add new picture in imgur - browse ur laptop and find phone and choose pic n upload to imgur - go to my images and pick ure photo and choose the IMG link and choose size(I always use Huge Thumbnail) - and just paste into post.

Of course we don't have the life for a true comparison but I really thing it was legit. I was going to buy it and sell it to a member here to keep it in the community. I instead gave a new guy ( you will meet him soon) a crack at the bigs. He held his own until the last second and got swooped.
Would you say that there is a generational difference between those two knives? Or are the differences just down to the natural variation of hand grinding?

They are 3 years apart.

The only differences I am aware of are the thumb stud and the lack of the P stamp.

Perhaps just lots more practice and adjustments to process?

Oh it was horrible. I actually got lucky that the idiot I bought it from was also rather dishonest, he took real bad pics in light that made it look very good. If the pics were clear I wouldnt have bought it and i am so glad to have it.
That’s super frustrating but all’s well that ends well. We all look forward to seeing pictures of the refreshed 2009.

I am paranoid of any for-sale with bad pics. Good pics are pretty easy these days. If you are putting in the effort to list, sell, pack and ship something, I think posting decent pics is only logical. I’m a poor photographer but have no trouble getting realistic photos. When for sale pics are badly lit or blurry, I tend to run the other way (and probably miss out sometimes as a result.)
