The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Yeah, i'd say it's mainly because the Sebenza started it all. It's been around for so long, and been manufactured to such precise fit and finish for so long, that when people think CRK they often think Sebenza first. I love them all also, although there is just something about the Sebenza that really gets me going. Just such simple elegance that can be used hard as an everyday carry for one's entire life and then passed on to the next generation. All of them can do that of course, and they're all machined to the same precise tolerances, but it's just that the Sebenza is the legacy piece.

Thought about tmy Sebenza vs Inkosi issue again last night. Rolled open my small Inkosi and man that is easy and smooth. Rolled open a fairly new small Sebenza and its so rough it leaves a dent in my thumb. Okay, maybe it just needs a cleaning and some fresh grease.

Opened her up, wiped clean with alcohol on a microfiber, fresh grease, back together. Exact same feel.

Inkosi > Sebenza

Inkosi > Sebenza
I had a vey similar experience with a small Sebenza a couple of weeks ago. My other CRKs are a large Inkosi and a 'Zaan. At first, it was very rough and very tight. That little baby stud got sharp. It was still tight after cleaning but was much smoother. So it stayed in my hand for about two days and about the time the blue on the thumb stud started wearing off, it started getting better. It's actually pretty good now and I'm much happier with it.:)

Yeah, IMO the small takes longer to break in/ get really smooth. I’ve had several and could not warm up to them. I’ve only got one left and it’s a regular that is buttery smooth. for me, the large is easier to deal with when it comes to break in time.

All my models improved by disassembling and servicing, very simple. Except one small sebenza, all I did was crack the loctite.

Funny you say that. My "oldest" (I recognize an S45VN 31 isn't that old) small seb has the blue worn off a bit and is finally acceptable. Acceptable, not nice. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the Inkosi's superior smooth opening. If I didn't have one I wouldn't know better.

100% this.
As I don't have an Inkosi I can't comment on it but I have a Tanto Umnumzaan and several Sebenzas, all DP's except for one Insingo.
For me, the Sebenza is  the knife where legacy, history, functionality, quality, elegance, roughness etc blends together like nowhere else.

Any aftermarket clip I have purchased never lasted longer than a couple of weeks before I put the standard bent clip on.

Even the MIM clip is starting to go the way of the dodo for me…. And the hawk clip was just… not great.

I have become a huge fan of the Nice Guy Machine Co clips. I've been swapping into them on all my non-inlayed models. My inlayed keep the bent stock clip, I agree. The Hawk Clip is a game changer on the Zaan, but I don't like it better than the stock clip on the Sebenza or Inkosi.

I cannnot be the only one that finds the standard clip to be a pocket saw on the jeans. That secondary notch just chews the fabric. I love the idea but in action find it wanting. I've ended up carrying in a leather pocket slip in the back pocket.

I find any and all pocket clips are terrible to any denim with stretch in it. Pure “raw” denim I have never had as much of an issue as I do with anything stretch.

Got to thinking from the MagnaMax thread, anyone else think CRK will switch over? I can see reasons for either direction.

The photo shows a Reg with the machining lines, so late 90's? Possibly an insert, for a catalog??
