The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Does anyone know what the MSRP was on the latest Prometheus Design Works Sebenza 31 Blue Wave was? Large and small?

Well, just placed orders today for 3 knives. Now to get comfortable in the 4-5 year wait and remember the configurations I ordered so I don’t buy them in the mean time🤣
Welcome to BFC Mind the tip Mind the tip , you can always cancel an ordered knife if one comes up. CRK doesn’t mind and will still make what you ordered. Ask me how I know, and that was before the long lead times.

Mind the tip Mind the tip - On the subject of those lead times, keep in mind that you might get that call from CRK sooner than the posted lead time because other folks who have placed orders may cancel if they find what they are looking for sooner. Also, people sometimes don’t have the means to purchase what they ordered when that call comes through, so CRK will move along to the next person on the list with that same configuration.
I’ve had this happen twice in the past couple years. Both times, I was told that the order was refused by whoever was ahead of me. However, it depends on how common your chosen configurations are.

Lady1911 Lady1911 thanks, one of the configurations is less common, and I spec’d custom engraving on that one. The other 2 are more common, but no matter what my option is to wait and see, and that’s OK.

Or go ahead and buy them, because CRK doesn't mind cancellations at all.

With Blade Show 2025 a little over 2 months away, I have been trying to decide whether or not to plan a trip to Atlanta. Has anyone heard any buzz about this year’s offerings, or just any CRK news in general?
In past years, I’ve enjoyed being able to swing by the CRK table because they are all awesome, down to earth folks who will take time to answer questions or chat about their knives.
Anyone else planning to go this year?

I plan to be there. I wouldn't mind adding a Backpacker at table price.

The MIM clip on one of my L 21s does not touch the lockbar when the knife is open. Is this normal?

Jacques Mi Jacques Mi - Mine is the same way. I did not adjust or bend the clip at all when installing it because it gives me good retention in the pocket, which is what really matters to me. The only tiny nit-pick I have about it not touching the lock bar when open is the noise it makes when I grip the scales which doesn't really bother me enough to want to adjust it. Just my $.02. :)

Thank Lady1911 Lady1911
It is sort of a non issue yes but TBH, CRK should have addressed and fixed it already. They are known for their tight machining after all.

Mine does the same thing. I don't think it is as much of an "address and fix" situation as it is "nature of the beast". I don't think the new clip is as flexible as the old stamped one...when it is in a position to provide good retention and rest against the lockbar when the knife is closed, it doesn't travel as much as the lockbar when the knife is open and "floats" a little bit. I'm sure you could probably bend it tighter and eliminate it, but for me it is already borderline too tight as-is on some pants.

True, the MIM clip is mighty tight when the knife is closed but this couldbe because it has little flex. I would bend it if it wasn't because I'm sure of that it will snap in the process.

I've seen multiple reports of people bending/adjusting them successfully, but also seen one broken one without any story of how it happened. I'd definitely say it carries a risk and I'd be surprised if you could get it adjusted to rest on the lockbar when the knife is open but still comfortably slip in and out of your pocket.

Well, it is possible. Yesterday I snagged the new MIM clip and it bent enough that it wasn't resting on the lockbar anymore when the knife was closed. This drives me crazy so today I took it off for adjustment.

While I had it off, I also used a dremel/rotary tool to take about half the height off the middle "nubs" half way between the screw and the edge of the clip...since getting the new clip it has bothered me how it almost feels like it double-clutches on the way in and out of the pocket and I knew those humps were the culprit. There have been multiple times that I didn't push my knife all the way into my pocket because those humps were catching on the hem of the pocket, making it feel like the clip was bottomed out when it wasn't.

My MIM clip now rests on the lockbar when the knife is open and closed, and the retention in-pocket is secure without being inconvenient when going in and out. More satisfied with it than ever. When bending/adjusting, I held the clip in hand and just let it flex where it wanted to rather than trying to put it in a vise or otherwise influence where the bend was taking place. It didn't take much at all but I also never felt like I was close to breaking the clip.

Bent my MIM. It’s tight now. I tried to capture the “warp” I created to make it stay taught in these pics. It’s really not noticeable unless you take a good gander at it. Looks good anyhow I think. IMG_9054.jpegIMG_9055.jpegIMG_9056.jpeg

Jacques Mi Jacques Mi Just wanted to share some pics of my clip after my adjustments. It did not take nearly as much bend/warp as shown by BlackEnd BlackEnd to get it to rest on the lockbar in both positions. Nice to know it can take that kind of bending without breaking though.
