The King has been undergoing some remodeling: new swedge, belly, handle shape and other mods. The paper cutout approximates the appearance of the new handle and ricasso shapes. There will be a hidden tang with the cut outs filled in. There is still much to be done until the King is completed.

a damascus guard and some nice burl might be the ticket...what are your plans?

Hey zulu- I don't have any damascus for a guard, but I do have bronze, brass, aircraft aluminum, stainless steel and German silver. Handle material was going to be walnut then I changed to micarta now I'm back to walnut over a hidden tang. I still have to cut down the stock tang I'm using a grinder for that job. I had to use the grinder for the reshaping of the ricasso. All my lines are scribed and ready for reduction. I was outside today working on the King and it sure felt good to be getting back to my favorite projects. Th BK10's I worked on were just the warmups for the Fighting 9 project.
Hi stvpourciau- The white handle material you mentioned is available as Paper micarta. A buddy of mine recently made a Persian fighter with the white micarta stained to look like ivory. I am not a white handle guy. I prefer black micarta or G10 in laminated color/black and of course walnut and ironwood as well as other exotic woods.

That looks like it's going to turn out pretty nice. I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

That just may be the classiest, most elegant looking BK9 EVER, after your done !!! Pics when your done. :D

Thanks guys for all the encouraging comments. I am slowly progressing with the Fighting 9. There will be pictures as I move toward completion. I will try to get close to the perfect excecution that Mr. Hunt does so very well. He is in a league of masters who inspire me to do better.

The hidden tang handle has been roughed out and fit to the tang. Next step will be to make the guard. The walnut came from a 14" diameter 18" log.

We need more pics of this process!

I am almost complete except for the guard, so I can't do that now. I do the work and cut to the chase. I have one more Becker project for a BK-7 and a 9 which I may customize. I will make a thread showing the steps I use to complete a project on one of those two.

Your first picture... Is that how blade look after removing coating or you did some polish (few words about it if you do) ? Thanks.
