The Knife Industry is Tacticool BS

This thread is why knife ownership in the US is screwed.

Not really.
The truth is that almost the entire population of the planet does not read what we write, nor would they care.
We are the minority out of the minority of people who carry knives.

If knife ownership gets screwed, it won't have been anything we did which caused it.
So relax. :)

Actually, The Tanto tipped knives I've used, made & sold are a poor blade design for cutting an apple. Too thick in the cross section.

Those tacticool Tanto's are designed for slashing and stabbing. They work great on opening cardboard boxes too!

Besides, when was the last time you needed to defend yourself from an apple?

It's not the apples you have to watch, it's the oranges! Also, what thick bladed tanto are you using that can't slice an apple?

Yesterday.
It was a close call.

True story, Stab sent me the phone video (which he recorded in Landscape mode, Thank God).

My fault. I've had some escapees from that mutant strain I've been creating. Glad you are safe. Please don't sue me.

HEY! WHERE MY FREE MONEY AT!!!!

Counter-proposal: For the low price of $10,000 you can get in on the ground floor of investing in the next big thing: Mutant apple guard dogs... er... apples. Think about it man. When it takes off I can quadruple your investment.

In addition I can offer a lifetime supply of guard apples. The reason being, in recent focus group testing, the kids simply find them both adorable and delicious, and we have to keep replacing them.

As an aside, anyone know where I can get a replacement pocket clip for my "ZipForce BS 007/sp" Tactical Spoon?

Yes, you can cut or wedge your Tanto Tacticool knife through an Apple, It's just "Tactically speaking" wanting to use the best knife for the job it's far from the best knife geometry for the job.

I make mostly culinary knives and if you want to prep a bag of apples. A blade of around 3/32" at the spine and say 1-2" tall with a FFG will work much faster and not bruise up the fruit and push the juice out of the slices. You don't want bruised & dry apple slices do you? LOL.

This thread reminded me of an old Ernie Emerson article I had read
http://dailycaller.com/2012/09/26/1...l-knife/?utm_referrer=https://www.google.com/

Thanks for that link. I liked this part:

"When the US Navy asked me to design a rescue knife for their special boat units (SBU), they gave me a list of tasks the knife would be required to perform. I designed the knife specifically to address those tasks. The request for this knife came as a result of a tragic accident in which a number of U.S. Marines drowned in a helo crash. The rescue knives the SBU units had were “regular” knives that literally self destructed as they were trying to cut the trapped Marines free."

Brony, it was a joke. All this talk about tantos and apples... I do have an M4 tanto tho...

I've never had to defend myself from an Apple, per se, but whenever a new iPhone comes out I have to hew my way through hoards of Apple fans at Walmart in order to reach the Doritos. Tantos work great in this application, especially if they have black coatings and lots of jimping.

I am all for lots of Jimping on my Apple Assault Tanto Hybrid! Long live the AATH!

"Once you get in the real world of knife use, whether it's butchering a deer or building a fire, you will see that a simple, basic knife design is all that's really needed to perform the task."

He's right. Long live the Mora!!

Truer words were never spoken. I have my share of Esse's etc. and years\a pile of knives later, the dime a dozen Mora Companion is close to perfection to me.
