The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

You can't learn how to sharpen a sebenza by practicing on a knife with a different blade shape. Trust me, Im pretty good at sharpening as well. I can get a DAMN good edge on everything else in my collection. But when it comes to the seb, I'm just lost.

Oh well, it just takes time I guess. And lots of trial and error
Sometimes you just need to talk to Sampson. It helps, trust me. I WANNA TALK TO SAMPSON!

Well I've succesfuly turned the military into a tip up carry. I was scared there for a minute. I stripped the head of a bm clip screw, because I drilled the holes a little small so the threads would get a good bight. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get it out, but I finaly did. Thank god the spyderco's clip screws fit. Hopefully I'll either be able to use a friends dremel tonight, or go get a new hack saw blade in the morning. I've already got a cheapo sketched out to practice on before I screw up the milly.

Welcome to bladeforums.

I'm not sure if I could directly discuss value with you since you aren't a gold member. But You could easily find what you're looking for if you just take some time searching for what other people are charging for similar knives. IMO, you're probably in the ballpark as long as the knife is well made. Just look at the ESEE 4.... It's going for around 100 bucks, and it's not even custom made like yours would be

You should post some pics:)

Making knives at sixteen? Damn, when I was that age I was still popping zits trying to figure out who I was gonna give my flower to :)

Also, all this sharpening talk is making me realize I barely know jack about sharpening.

Shoot, I'm 24 and just learning how to sharpen. I've been doing a bit of test grinding on a blade that I carried when I was 16 give or take, and every time I handles those knives it amazes me how dull they were and how much blade play they had. Fast forward 8 years, and I wont even carry a knife that is not razor sharp or has the slightest bit of play. Ive been spoiled I know.
I did pick up some 180 and 320 grit paper today. I might test it out tonight.

Just bought a small Sebenza insingo on the exchange. I'm actually wanting a large but had the money and thought it was a good deal so...yeah.

Your flower??? The fact that you referred to it as that, probably didn't help you loose it:D:p

But yeah, it should be pretty interesting to see his knives if he chooses to post them.

me and girlfriend split up, staying inside and away from sharp things for the next few days
Single most depressing thing I've read all month. Sorry to hear you guys split but if you're having to avoid sharp things, you need to nut up in a big way.

How long?

Also, this is the knife life thread, not the wife life. Lest yer knife help solve problems caused by yer wife, it belong not here...

For real though, hope you're okay. I see threads like this pop up in Community Discussion time to time, and members are very supportive.
