The Knife of 2015

I enjoyed your thoughtful, and heartfelt process of choosing a knife of the year, Sarah!
Best of the season to you and your family!!

OK that's gonna be a tough decision. Here is the top 3 or 4
I will use categories: just be glad this is only traditional knives. [emoji12]

My knife of the year is actually 2 knives. My favorite edcs are my GEC 99 with Stag scales and my LT Wright Patriot fixed blade. I carry them both in an KSF Pocono leather pocket sheath.

Carried in my right hip pocket allows me to draw the Patriot quickly if need be without removing the sheath. The GEC Wall Street fits nicely in the smaller sheath pocket.
The Patriot is a do-it-all blade made from D2.It has a full tang for strength and is squared off on the spine which makes easy work with a fire steel. The flat ground blade holds an excellent edge and this sub 6in knife fits well in hand.
The 99 with a Spear locking blade is an elegantly designed all purpose blade.I just really like it.
What makes my most used and carried kit best is that 2/3rds of it (Pocono Sheath and LT Wright Patriot)were recommend to me by pertinux. Sarah was kind enough to share her experience, opinions and answered all my questions. She even gave me a link for the LTW Patriot selling it for a super sale price.
I am really touched how members of the knife community give of their time and experience and expertise and pertinux is one of the best of,imo[emoji5]

It's a close call with the Beer Scout, Soda Scout, Gun Scout, Ancient Barlow, Washington Jack, and Harness Jack coming out this year but since I live in Navy town (San Diego), I'm going to have to vote for Charlie's Sailor's Rope knife.

I'm fairly new to the traditional knife scene, but this is my favorite knife. If there was one what was a bit shorter, it'd be the only traditional I carried.

Fine looking knife that particular Hogan. If you check GEC's 48 pattern you might just encounter your dreams....

The jigging on that #65 is awesome. Great color too.

PS: I also carry a Morgan silver dollar. This one has been in my LFP along with change, clippers, etc for about 20 years. As long as I have it, I'm never broke :D

I feel the same way about the coloring. The silver dollar was my grandmother's. I found it on some of her stuff a few months ago. We lost her on April.

A traditional lock back that wasn't put together to be an heirloom, and isn't at home in a chest or a drawer.
This olive wood handled work knife (a recent addition), is most often in my pocket.
Maybe reason enough to be my "knife of 2015" ...

I started 2015 with just one pocket knife. A Case canoe manufactured on my birth year. A very special item to me indeed but I knew almost nothing about knives. One day in March I randomly started looking at other traditional knives and purely by accident came across the TC Barlow. Wheeeww Boy.. I thought it was just about the coolest thing I had ever seen. As is my tendency once something catches my eye and triggers that bug I am hooked. I desperately searched and searched for a TC not knowing how rare they actually were. My search lead me to this wonderful forum and my eyes were opened to traditional knives. Through some lucky trial and error I was able to experiment with a couple 2 blade TCs before finding my 2015 knife. (Easy open notch provided by Paul who graciously answered a PM from a unknown newbie) I have several others that I love.. AB Sheep 77 barlow... 2014 Red Soup TC... 15 Scout.. my 2 K'roos... and those dang addicting Northwoods. But after going from 1 to 31 traditional knives this year I know it all started with this knife. Cheers to you Charlie for this wonderful creation. Cheers to Blade Forums for allowing us this Porch.. and cheers to all of you fantastic people that make this place what it is. Finally strong and continued prayers to Bob for a better 2016.

My knife of 2015 i guess would be my most carried and used knife during the year. Rarely was it the only knife i carried but it was the most often used and fondled.

My Opinel #7, shown here with its big brother, a #10. I make no apologies for likeing these simple knives as much as do, i dont however understand it my self. My fondness for the Opinel has been one of my biggest suprises lately.

Some great photos and great choices  Nice to see some clear and decisive answers too

I have to say, I'd hate to go shopping with some of you guys! :p

Was fortunate to have been able to pick this up from Ken Erickson in 2015. Very much a tribute to his talent and drive to push himself.

Wow! That is really outstanding Gus

Ken deserves all the credit. I was just lucky to mention that I had someone's back so it would stay in "the family" as Blues used to say.
