The knife that stopped you cold

This one:

Jens Ansø "Porcupine" dagger. Completely blew me away - and still does actually!

That is one amazing dagger! Its so... clean!

The knives that wowed me were the BM 806 and the Greco Whisper (full length fixed). The Whisper isn't an ideal EDC for me unfortunately, so a BM Nimravus is on its way to me.

Like several others, I'd say my 806D2 did it for me. Having said that, I get pretty damn excited whenever a new one shows up. I'll quit collecting when the thrill is gone (may that never happen!! ! ;) )

As of late, this one. It's a Strider GB that's been customized by Eric Blair. He calls it a "toxic embryo GB" It's the perfect size for me and I can't seem to put it down.

That has happened twice to me this year...Once about three months ago when I got my Strider GB, and just last weekend , when I purchased my first Sebenza! No turning back for me now!

I have been collecting customs since 1987, and productions since I was 8 years old(I am 62), and in the last couple of years into mega folders. A year, and a half ago I received my first Phil Boguszewski Pirhana with 3 1/2" wharencliffe blade that I instantly fell in love with, and decided I wanted another of his knives so ordered a Large Classic. I already had some large folders like REKAT Sifu, Camillus Maxx, and Aftermath but wanted a custom. Well a week ago after a long wait(1 1/2 years) the package came with the knife in it. I opened the box, and opened up the pouch, and pulled this knife out, and apologize but can't say what came out of my mouth :D I pulled out the Large Classic, and opened it, and what a gorgeous knife perfect in every way, and filled my hand like a large fixed blade. With an overall length of 10 1/4", and a 4 916" blade it made my Camillus Aftermath, and Strider AR look small because it is so thick, and wide.
I was in awe like never before with the knife with it being perfect in every way just like my other Boguszewski.
I have never had a knife make me feel so surprised when I pulled it out of the box like this one, and I have had hundreds of knives over the last 50+ years.
Just my .02 cents rounded off to a buck twenty.

Larry

I'll vouch for that! I had the opportunity to hold this knife and took a photo of her tonight

Nice knife Larry!

My vote would go to the Sebenza...my first 'real' knife, that basically replaced a Delica as my EDC.

Although as a kid, I remember drooling over a Buck 110. Still have it.

I am still a little dumbfounded with my Kershaw Bump, it just fits so well in my hands. And the S30V steel holds an edge very well and easy to sharpen, I may just but a blue one next.

I also found that it is best not to tell any girl friends you are into knifes. But when they see the festive color of my Bump and the original blade and handle shape they find this one OK, go figure?

Thanks for the great picture of my Boguszewski :)
She is now on her way home to me after sending it to Gary for a great leather sheath I had him make so I can carry it in the horizontal position.
I thought a awesome knife like that needed an awesome sheath to carry it in  One of the best knifemakers today, and one of the best sheathmakers today as well.
My only problem was it took me 2 months to get up the courage to let it go long enough to send it to Gary for him to make a sheath for it.
Thanks Gary for making a beautiful sheath for this mega-folder. :D
I don't have the capabilities to show the pics of the knife, and sheath that Gary sent me but if Gary has the time, and reads this he might posssibly post the picture here as it is worth showing his talent.
Still blows me away everytime I handle/look as this awesome knife.
Sorry for being so long winded but felt it was worth talking about again. :)

Guess it's got to be that short, shiny and devilishly sharp scalpel they used to lobotamise me with. It's probably why I'm here :D
(Sadly my psychiatrist wouldn't let me keep it....NURSE!!)

Thanks Larry, nice knife for sure!

Now the knife that stopped me cold was one made by Jay Harris, a Very sleek wharncliff folder, blade about 3 1/2" long, hidden pivot pin anodized bolsters with dovetailed african blackwood scales and a great vine file worked back spacer, had a very cool small round thumb disk on top of the blade, so very sorry that I ever let that one go! :(
