The knife itself doesn't look horrible in my opinion. It may serve someone in the field well, especially considering that many wear gloves. I'd also like to say there's absolutely nothing wrong with mentioning ones service as a veteran..my little 2 cents addresses just a couple suggestions:
1. State on the packaging- and NOT in giant letters, just a nice little statement somewhere on there- "Proudly made in the USA by a Veteran of the US Armed Forces." If your knife is currently being carried by active duty personnel, that's okay to put on there also, in the same, understated way- "Carried by Professionals On Duty" or some such. Neither of those statements are lies, and that's just good marketing. Make some videos, torture those knives and post it on You tube. Send a couple off to people who review knives on you tube, also. You may get a "bad' review, but at least you put the knife out there.

post 80 and the op has clearly won, he entered, got free press for the mfg. the mfg. being a man of service and tradition knows and knew the rules of advertising here and the need to join as a knifemaker , dealer etc. before posting. I have never meet any service person who thought stealing and cheating the system was proper. For that reason alone, I would never support anyone who is seeking a freebee , while saying you have earned everything else in life. The OP chose to place the MFG in an akward position and the Mfg. chose to cont. the thread. Sir you should have, being a man of honor, clearly seen your actions as poor marketing and as stealing from others. you the mfg. made the choice to abuse the forum rules and system and to disrespect the honest members who have paid to follow the rules. Do you enter resturants, demanding free food because you9 are a vet., maybe you take money out of the sunday offering plate, do you have a site set up accepting money because you are better than others ? That is clearly what you did here today. Regardless of your past, you ruined your rep. here buy not earning the things you evidently expect. Please review our registered and paying members within the mfg. and knifemakers forum. Are you better than them ? To the guys that are defending this guy, I hope you realize what a slap in the face this was for our members who work, toll and do things the right way. At least this time, their is no language barrier ! I hope the members who have done this before can now see how wrong and sad this is.

I don't know if he really won anything. He would have been a lot better off posting a video of his knife in use rather than sending angry fanboys to harass this site. A few people might take a look at what he has to offer but if he approached this differently he could have gained the support of a large chunk of this community. Just because we weren't thrilled about 1 knife doesn't mean we wouldn't like something else he has to offer, but the conduct he and his fans displayed has turned me off of his knives.

The knife in question is not my style, but I do like the smaller one. If Joe Watson says the guy is good people, I'll go by his word.

Yes some probably will buy a few from seeing this. But it will be a very few Mall ninjas (anyone seen gecko45) and all the fake wanna be operators.
In All he did himself a gigantic disservice by sending his army of fanboys over here just to try and shutup anyone who doesn't like this knife.
And most of all using said fanboys who don't know any better to try to generate business for himself.

Just for the way he went about it I Personally will never consider one of his knives unless there a big change in attitude
Beginning with a apology for asking his fans to SPAM this site. (Which is basically what he did)

It's not a competition, there isn't a winner or loser, seeing it that way instantly makes it confrontational.

I don't care for his knives, I don't care for some of his comments, but he served, and as a veteran I respect that and chose to thank him for it instead of berating him.

When people are attacked, they naturally seek help from others and defend themselves, whether they're any good at it or not. He felt attacked, sought help from friends, and defended himself verbally the best he could. It is what it is, nobody is perfect.

Indeed, nobody is perfect and I don't think anyone meant to attack Mr. Stottlemire for his military service. But the whole operator-turned-into-knifemaker thing is getting REALLY old IMHO (And yes, it is sadly tainted by less than honorable people).
Doesn't mean his military experience isn't worth anything when it comes to designing knives, but maybe he should separate him self from the other 51367
ex-soldiers that make knives now.

Jack, if you are still reading this thread, I understand that you feel "wronged" when people put down your knives without having handled them, but I feel you should have adressed those concerns yourself in the first place instead of sending some of your fans. Thing is, statements on the internet that have nothing to back them up aren't worth much and 1-post people on forums, that only "advertise" a certain product are generally viewed as spam.

Why not make a short video, show us what your knives can do ? Or some pictures of your knives in use ?

Or get a knifemaker membership, show us some of your other work. I like this one, looks like it could be a useful outdoor knife

Any more info on that ?

What I love best about it was that out of all the people bashing us for judging the knife without handling it, only a couple of them actually own the knife. The rest were saying things like, ”I don't own the knife but jack is a veteran so it's a good knife. Don't judge the knife until you've held it yourself!”

"Hard use knives for Hard men"? LMAO That is an awesome photoshop, because no way would someone actually send out some complete cornball BS like that. Wow. I mean, because, when I think of the term "hard men", I sure don't get a mental image of a guy who becomes a crybaby on Facebook "GO DEFEND ME!!!!!" I mean, come on.

Personal Defense World also did a story on one of my knives.

I've made a few videos on YouTube about making pattern welded billets and such. One video is me making billets out of mini-gun barrels from my buddy's shot down attack helicopter. I have no plans of selling any knives on this sight. Had a free membership for a year and never posted or even looked at this forum until a few days ago when a buddy of mine told me about the Kraken thread.

Cheers fellas,

Moderation, can we get a ban for this guy until he buys a paying knifemaker membership?

You realize you are not helping your cause any by coming back over and over, right? Seems pretty thin-skinned.

And seriously, if you have such a low opinion of the "experts" here...why do you keep coming back? One can only assume it's to get yourself some free promotion.

And that ain't helping your rep either.

I don't care if a knife is made by a genuine military hero, a burger flipper at MacDonald's, or a computer programmer.
I care about the knife itself, because come on, it's a knife. The knife is what matters; all else is entirely irrelevant.

This particular knife does not have the features I am looking for.
For some other people it probably does.

And you know what? Being so hurt by complete and utter strangers on the internet, and then loosing your internet buddies doesn't seem like typical "Special Ops" behavior. Odd.

Friendly bit of advice. Clearly you have a loyal following. But you are alienating more and more potential customers each time you come back with your feelings hurt.

Time to take the advice of Sun Tzu...."You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run."

I'd like to know more about this McDonald Burger Flipper knife. I have an early 80's SpyderCo flipper but I don't have a McDee Burger flipper. Info please?
BTW I took two bullets for unca sammy. Can I sell my knives for free now too. Will 80 + members rally around me because I so special? I can post my congressional medal, my letter of gratitude from the President, my meritorious service conduct award? How about a free starbucks coffee card? Come on guys, I'm the real deal, rules shouldn't apply to me. I'm wounded God D**n It! Give me the stuff!

Well, here's a Mick Berger knife:

:D

And a couple of university student/security guard/lab tech/author knives/swords:

Vocation is meaningless.
Product is paramount.

So, you make knives.
And apparently some people like those knives, others seem less enthusiastic about them.

What seems to be the problem?

No one product will have all people everywhere all euphoric.
What exactly are you trying to achieve with your posts here?
And by sending fanboys to stand up for you no less?
I know, I know, it's all about the almight dalla right?

As to your service history, I'm sure that is commendable to your fellow Americans.
To me, who lives in a country with a general draft, not so much really.
It was done by choice, no need to be all chest-pounding about it.
Furthermore, my very finest knives are not made by John Rambo or his like, no, they were made by people investing years upon years into research of steel, functionality, usability and also design.
