Edit: she's too smart to join me. Once I catch my breath its no problem staying in.

Living in NJ, I am fortunate to have a few different bodies of water around me. Unfortunately, when I am there I tend to forget to take some pics, as I am often fishing, hiking, biking, or spending time with friends or family. But, I did snap a few pics of a sunset over the bay last summer.

And yes, I was Very nervous about not dropping my Roundhead into the drink when setting this up, or taking my knife out of its impromptu stand.

Thank you for the chance. Great idea for a GAW, I am loving everyone's pics and stories.

Well I've lived my whole life in New Brunswick Canada witch is one of the Maritimes provinces on the east coast. I grew up in Saint John N.B. witch was Canada's first incorporated city. It also shares it's name with the Great Saint John River. Witch forms part of the Canadian -United States Border in two different areas along its length. It drains an area of approximately 21000 square miles of witch slightly more then half is located in New Brunswick. I've included a few pictures that shows were the River meets the Atlantic Ocean and forms one of the biggest tourist attractions in my home town The Reversing Falls. I remember being awfully disappointed the first time I got to see "THE FALLS" as a boy of about 5 or 6 I just assumed they were like all the water falls I'd seen in books and on TV lol. All they really are is a bunch of whirl pools and Rough Rapids at certain times of the day. Cased by the two body's of waters crashing into each other. But it does make for a pretty view IMHO. Included is a shot of the GEC knife that has eluded me the most. The #62 Courthouse Whittler :DView attachment 900488 View attachment 900489 View attachment 900490 View attachment 900491 Thanks for the great opportunity. Trevor

Twilly, those are some wicked currents going on there. It would not be any fun getting stuck out in them!!

I'm enjoying everyone's posts so far! I realized I forgot to include a couple things in my original post.
  • I'll let this GAW run until some time next weekend. If it seems to slow down significantly before then, I may post a "last call" for entries and draw the winner earlier.
  • The winner will be chosen by random drawing. (I'll probably put all the names in a hat and do it that way.)
I'll go ahead and add a couple more pictures while I'm here. These are from Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas, which was the lake I grew up on. Both photos are of my dad and I. The first was taken from the back deck of a house that my grandpa owned, which was built on a bluff overlooking the Highway 12 bridge across Beaver Lake. The second is from a family lake outing over July 4th weekend in 1991. I'm the goober wearing the visor wrong. :D

Great idea for a GAW! I'll try to get a pic or two in the next few days, this part of Finland is boring as it has no lakes - unlike the rest of the country- but I know all about frozen water thank you..:eek::D

Actually there's a Jets boat service that's there to take anyone that's willing to get a little wet strate into the worst of the Falls. At one point he actually rides into the middle of a huge whirl pool and kills the engine just to Freek the passengers out when the boat starts to swing around in circles. :eek:o_O:confused::D I hope nobody minds me dubble posting.:)IB4396m.jpg hqdefault.jpg canada-new-brunswick-tourists-enjoy-thrilling-reversing-falls-jet-B24TNT.jpg

Thanks for the generous GAW, Barrett, and for coming up with an interesting theme for entries!!:thumbsup::cool::cool:
NOT AN ENTRY, but I'll probably post some relevant photos just to participate.:thumbsup:
Here's a photo of the Guadalquivir River in Sevilla, Spain on Dec. 26, 2014, followed by a photo of a Taramundi I bought in that city:

I'm in. Thanks for the chance.
Kayuta Lake, from inside the camp my aunt and uncle built away back when. Camp is Adirondackese for what we'd call a cottage in Michigan, which has little relation to what would be called a cottage in England.

I'll have to dig out my Dexter Great White rolling canoe survival knife, but meantime:

Here it is:

Funny how canoes insist on throwing me. The safest way to board is in shallow water so my weight pushes the canoe into the sand and I have to pry it loose with the paddle after I'm ensconced.
Never a kayak. A canoe just throws you, but a kayak pins you.

There's the coolest thing at an upcoming estate sale: a rowing catamaran. I'll bet that remains upright pretty well.

Same lake, different cove; one of the culprits in the foreground.

This has been fun.

I am so in! I’m still a little sore from losing my 71 about 8 months ago at work.
I spend every weekend on the water, usually on the Chattahoochee river. Here’s a few photos from a recent trip my dad, uncle, and I took to Arkansa to fish the Norfork. Needless to say we had a blast, and I even finally got my dad into some trout on the fly rod which has been a mission of mine for some time now.

Thanks for the GAW Barrett! I'm in for a chance on this one! I am sorta wishing I had picked one of these Linen Micarta models up when they were available! They turned out to be a great looking knife. Here is a picture of the Little Tennessee River that was taken between Townsend and Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains. I wasn't taking knife photos on this particular day but this Case 6347 was in my pocket. :)

What a great post Barrett :) And a very generous giveaway

I barely have any knife photos WITHOUT water on them! :D The #71 is an excellent pattern, and I was lucky enough to be gifted the one below by @meako a few years back :) Shown here at Fewston Reservoir in North Yorkshire.

GEC Bullnose 5-7.jpg

You very generously gifted me a lovely #25 Barlow in Unicorn Ivory Micarta, but - bizarrely - I do not have a pic of it with water! So, I will have to redress that situation soon :)

If it's OK Barrett, I'd like to give someone else a chance, so not an entry from me. Good luck everyone

Here’s a pic (not mine) of Maroon Lake with the Maroon Bells in the background. Near Aspen, Colorado. Hiked here in the past, but my pics aren’t as nice.

Tiny pic isn’t cooperating, but here’s a pic of my favorite edc, a Rough Rider.

I've lived nearly my whole life on the upper Mississippi river. I am a 4th generation river rat. Right now I'm sitting in my office (company work truck) finishing out my day right along the banks above lock and dam 12. I'm lucky that I get to work outdoors and see this beautiful river every day. She's a little flooded at the moment. It's funny, I just saw this throwback article in the local paper about my grandpa Boyd, his brother and his brother-in-law. Though we all knew him as Dude. Everybody called him Dude. We figure my grandpa was about 15 at the time of this story.
