The Les George Knives Thread

Yea, I see some ESV flippers on the secondary market occasionally but have yet to find a thumb stud. Not the biggest fan of flipper only, however, I am enjoying the recently aquired Myna.

Completely agree. The thumbstud versions are harder to find. He made the thumbstuds early on but hasn’t made any since he started doing the flippers that I’m aware of. They do come up occasionally though. If I ever see one I’ll try to remember to hit ya up.

The old thumbstud ESVs are a bit hard to find, but if you're not opposed to doing a flipper delete and studs on a newer one, I can confirm they operate very well with the mod. I find myself carrying my modded one the most of any of my smalls.

Bottom right is the flipper delete w/studs.

I’ve definitely considered it and recently passed on a couple. Do you have someone specific that does that modification for you? If so, please lmk.

Really like the plain jane one on the top right. Are the top row customs? A bit different than the bottom row ESVs.

I bought that ESV (and a previous one) with the mods already done so I can't speak to the cost or turnaround time, but both were done by Serpents Run Customs. I think they did an excellent job. The grind of the delete blends in perfectly.

Yes, sir! Here is the list in reading order:

Mini Harpy (zirc sweep/san mai)
ESR (tephra G10)
ESR (titanium)
ESV (MEFP thumbstud)
ESV (USAMB lasering)
ESV (MEFP flipper)
ESV (modified flipper delete)

Thanks for the info. I’ll check them out and keep my eyes open for a potential ESV addition to the LG stable.

I am confident you and most on this thread will agree, there is something about LG’s design aesthetics, execution in manufacturing / QC, and overall badassery that has made him my favorite knife designer/ producer out of many quality competitors in this range.

You are certainly among kindred spirits here buddy!

Alright guys, I'm convinced that I need a Les George in my life. I have a MachineWise Sonora that I'll likely throw up for trade this weekend in hopes of finding someone to swap with. If that doesn't work out I'll likely sell it and use the funds to buy. Suggestions on what to seek out first? I know, I know, I can't go wrong, but I've never handled one or seen one in person.

From my own research I think I'd like a VECP, Talos, or Myna the most. Not a big fan of the dagger styling of the MK3. I'd rather have a frame lock than button lock, and prefer some sort of milling to plain jane.

I have a plain Talos that's very lightly used I'd let go for below retail if you want to try it.

To keep it short n simple I’d recommend going with whatever becomes first available considering they’re not readily available. You won’t be disappointed with any. And on the mk3, initially I felt the same way as you aesthetically but once in the hand it’s truly a game changer.

I would highly recommend a new Talos, they are fantastic and extremely flickable.

I'll shoot you a message! Thanks!

Roger that, I know the market definitely isn't flooded with LG but I see them pop up for sale somewhat regularly at least. I can see how seeking out something specific could get tough. There have definitely been knives that I didn't love the looks of only to really like them in hand.

The Talos is probably the most visually appealing to me just looking at pics with the VECP being a close second. They alternate based on the day of the week, weather, moon phase, color of my socks, etc. 😅

Good luck with your search bro! He’s currently at Cancon right now selling a bunch of talos n vecps. When that happens they often pop up because people are moving their old ones.
