The Les George Knives Thread

All great looking knives!

I've seen and handled Cap City Creations Sebenzas in the wild before, they do really nice work but I don't think I'd be into chasing a book spot via lottery. I've also seen tons of Way of Knife customizations and they do great work as well. My Talos should be delivered today so I'm going to enjoy it as it is for a while before deciding whether I want to have it modded or not.

Well, finally got my Talos Friday afternoon and have been carrying it all weekend. Initial impressions are great. It feels like a heavy-duty, do anything knife. Great ergonomics. Extremely smooth straight out of the box, amazing action for a brand new knife on washers. Centering favored the show side just a hair but was fixed with a tiny turn of the pivot and didn't hurt the action at all. Solid lockup with no blade play or lock stick. Very good factory edge. I'm sure much of this doesn't come as a surprise to any of you and I can see why Les George has the following he does.

As I said before, when looking at pictures online I have always been back and forth on whether I prefer the looks of the Talos or VECP. After getting the Talos in hand, there is the tiniest bit of buyer's remorse that I didn't hold out for a VECP. After holding it for a few days and looking back at pictures of the VECP handle shape, I think it may be a better fit for me. I had a DLC-bladed VECP in CTS-XHP offered to me yesterday and it was extremely hard to turn down, but I got married and went on my honeymoon last month and I'm not in a financial position to buy a $500 knife on a whim without selling something else to cover it first with the holidays coming up. I like feeling excited about my new knives, not guilty 😅 At this point I'm strongly considering selling a Sebenza or something to fund a VECP.

I'm glad you like it, my two Talos, v1&2 are firmly in my never sell pile. They are fantastic knives. Save up a bit and get the VECP eventually there are more of them out there than the Talos! Put your Sebenza up for trade in the relevant forum if you so desire, but the Talos will scratch that itch for a while 😁

Well, I took apart the Talos this past weekend for some cleanup and sharpening. I've been carrying and using it since it arrived and the factory edge was no longer satisfactory. I use a TsProf Blitz 360 and on most blades I can get a better position in the clamps when holding just the blade versus a whole knife and I figured I'd clean out the factory lube and see how it felt with the stuff I typically use.

The bevel cleaned up almost perfectly evenly at 20 degrees per side, one of the most consistently ground factory edges I've encountered in quite a while. Just a tiny area near the tip on one side took a little more work than the rest. The Magnacut took a screaming edge from a F400 diamond plate followed by some bare leather stropping. I lightly lubed the washers, pivot barrel, and detent with OCD4EDC Slick'em All and after reassembly this is quite possibly the most satisfying action I've ever experienced in a pocket knife. There's definitely a VECP in my future.

Welcome to the club my friend. Just seeing this, happy to hear you’re loving the talos! The action is what really separates LG from the rest. I recently got a new Emerson in on Friday. Have been breaking it in over the weekend. Decided to take a break from it and grabbed one of my vecps. The ease of use and superb action is never more appreciated then after using other knives and then coming back to a LG. It just magnifies how exceptional they are. Good luck on your search for a vecp!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Can we talk clips? Due to my hand/knife size ratio the stock clip is digging into my middle finger. Thinking of bending the end down but before I do thought I’d come here and ask for suggestions.

Same thing happened with my Mcnees, I prefer the stock clip but bought an aftermarket to make it more comfortable.

Do the Steel Flame clips have less of a sharp ramp. Anyone tried a RGT Benchmade clip?

While I like fancy clips I’m looking for function over fashion right now. TIA

Pic for attention
