The Les George Knives Thread

Well, as someone who sold my first VECP because I preferred my Talos, I have just agreed to trade my Talos for a VECP 😅 It's an early Gen3 with the backspacer and outline logo. Talos hasn't seen much pocket time lately so I figured what the hell. If I still prefer the Talos after another dance with the VECP I don't think I would have much trouble finding someone to trade with or selling the VECP outright.

Post some photos when it lands!

I believe Mitch will recognize it. ;) Nice piece. I was tempted by it.

I certainly do recognize that bad boy. It’s still got my trademark surprisingly.

And by the way, there’s nothing wrong with having a talos and a vecp or 6-10 of each along with a few mk3s and mynas of course. 😉

this post ain't gonna be popular...but im not overly impressed. (edit part...wasnt 580 bucks, my memory was off...was) 535 bucks later and I feel the spartan Taiwan made import for 100 and change is good enough of a George designed knife.....

the spartan is a better overall size blade and handle, to me.^

this titanium George is nice enough, but for the super high price....the spartan import is a good enough a knife with a similar look.

okay go ahead and hammer away at my post.......
I actually agree. I love the fit and finish of the Les Gorge knives, but the VECP had too much belly for me, and the Talos I thought the handle was too slippery, but I hate smooth metal handles.

I bought the Spartan for giggles cause it was like $80 on sale and it was G10 for some grip. I didn't think I'd like it but I really do, but it does not have that "vault" lockup that my old VECP had.

The Myna is tempting but I'd still rather have a G10 option at least on the non-lock side, or a very rough sandblasted handle finish to provide some grip.

Couldn’t agree more. Had this scale made. Grippy as hell and saved almost an oz. Les did do a stock version once but only the king knows when that’ll happen again.

So far I’ve only come across a few ti knives where the milling provides a great grip. I’d definitely be interested in getting my hands on a few more!

MEFP MK3 is definitely a gem. Smoothest washer knife I've ever owned.

Well...got my VECP. Advertised and sold to me as "Mint condition/LNIP/Safe Queen"...and served as a good reminder to always ask more questions. The edge has up to three distinct bevels in some places and is way wide at the tip, and the scales have lots of scratches. Oh well. Edge is already fixed and mostly evened up/polished at 18 degrees per side and the scratches are whatever since it will be a user for me anyway. mitchnola mitchnola I took off your signature lanyard. If I was a collector who thought I was buying a safe queen to continue being a safe queen I'd be demanding to trade back. I did let the guy know his description was totally inaccurate and kinda felt like he knew it...he just offered to send my Talos back if I wasn't happy. Didn't deny any allegations about the condition not being as described.

And just for fun the "user" Talos I traded him:

To be honest man I dont think anyone should or can claim mint condition, lnip, safe queen etc on a 10 yr old knife unless they were the original owner. Obviously he wasn’t the original owner.

Can’t blame ya for cutting my trademark off. I wouldn’t want someone else’s leather lanyard full of their dna either. 😂

I didn't realize V3 had been around that long but mostly good buying experiences in the knife community have led to me being too relaxed...when a seller says mint condition I generally trust it because we all know what that means. It was just frustrating to expect one thing and receive another but I know better and it was a good reminder to always ask detailed questions about condition.

On a positive note I am enjoying it more than my last VECP so far, though the lockbar is definitely a little rough on the thumb compared to the newer chamfered version. Was honestly tempted to snag the no lanyard hole one from the latest drop that's currently on Facebook and resell this one right away but I'm going to let it hang out for a little while at least. I do like the backspacer.

I’m not a 100%on how old they are. I think he started making the vecp around 2012. I would think those early v3s are from around 2015ish but I could be wrong.

On the bright side, having one in less than mint condition makes it really easy to put it to good use.

Question for you guys?
I just recently acquired Les Talos , I have noticed when I flick the blade open and close the pivot screw gets a little loose and then there is a little blade play. What’s better to use plumbers tape or lock stick? Your response appreciated

Plumbers tape will be easier to remove if need be.. you barely need any. You may need to cut the width down a little as well.
