The Les George Knives Thread

Anybody know how to tell the difference between the versions of vecp’s. As far as I know there’s 3 versions. All I know is the first version came with a sooonbill clip.

I'm not as knowledgeable when it comes to the differences between the V1s and V2s, but Les talks about the changes between the V2 and V3 here. I think the only part of the video that doesn’t always apply is that the majority of V3s no longer have a backspacer.

The easiest way (for me, at least) to tell a V2 from a V3 is that the latter has a thumb ramp on the show side scale.

Another obvious ID feature is the pivot:
Black T8 = V1
Silver T10 = V2
Any T20 = V3

Awesome, thanks for the Lesucation!

Just got this in, my first with a backspacer (v3)😉

Edited to correct the versions since I’ve been educated.

Great as always, Les never ceases to amaze. Wasn’t sure about the coating and color but it’s very nice in person. And surprisingly it doesn’t leave fingerprints!

Just ck’d it has t20 pivot, a thumb ramp but a backspacer soo, it’s either a v2.7 or the backspacer is aftermarket.

Great video, really clears it up. He did do the backspacers on the early v3s. He also mentions the lockbar relief on the v2 is more square than the v1 (hand ground) and v3.

Exactly right! That's an early V3. I dig the backspacers a lot. I had to buy one separately to get my hands on one. They fit pretty much any pre-button lock V3, including the flippers.

Agreed, the backspacer looks great.

Hey vt_jimmay vt_jimmay , pretty sure you can see the cerberus in this video!

Sweet. Thanks for sharing. Continuing version talk but for a different knife, I ran into someone with an anno fade Cerberus. The blade had both Allen’s and Les’ markings. Is that a V1 / original Cerberus? AZCK had one similar but it was listed as a V2.

8.5 years ago this V3 ( thanks mitchnola mitchnola ) was in my pocket in the delivery room when my youngest daughter was born. I cut her umbilical cord with it! XHP steel I think. It needed some care and cleaning. I was surprised to discover T10 for the body screws and T20 for the pivot! 543648D8-53AE-490D-B2A4-E85509A292F7.jpeg

Sounds like a very special knife for you, very nice!

It is. It hasnt been carried in years. It was so dried up that the action was tight. I had to oil and adjust it. I had a hard time getting the blade re-centered until I remembered the trick where you wedge some paper in between the blade and the show said before you tighten up. It worked perfectly. The action is light and the blade is crisply centered.
