The Les George Knives Thread

Here is a rare bird for Wilson Combat Wednesday in the form of a hand-ground Damascus Eagle from their 2017 collaboration. 🦅

Les actually kept one for himself, which says a lot considering he almost always follows the advice of his longtime mentor, Stan Fujisaka, who told him “not to fall in love with your own work.”

There are allegedly 25 of these floating around, but aside from this one, the only Damascus Eagles whose ownership I can attest to belong to Mr. George and Mr. Wilson.

Damn son you have all the rare ones stashed away! I didn’t even know that these existed! Very nice

Happy Throwback Thursday! 🗓️

Hard to believe, but this month marks the 15-year anniversary of this release. Built in October 2010 for a special Triple Aught Design edition, this ESR is the first custom Les made for TAD. It features bead-blasted titanium scales and a distinctive swedge grind, with the George logo on the show side of the blade and the TAD logo on the clip side.

Even with all the miles on her, the knife is an absolute dream mechanically, with one of the best detents of any piece I own.

Come on now, that’s what I am talking about 👍

Here is the knife featured in my profile picture. I lovingly refer to this one as the “Bronze Beauty.” As Necroanax Necroanax mentioned earlier this month, there were a handful of blades left over from the 2022 12 Days VECPs, which found their way onto special builds for BladeShow 2023. This one has “oiled bronze” DLC scales, a color that was later discontinued by the DLC provider, making this knife a permanent 1/1 piece.

Whitty over at USA Made Blade bought this from Les at BladeShow. A few months later he put it up as the prize for a reverse raffle “What’s in the Box” on his Thursday night Instagram live show, which I won. I was so excited I don’t believe I slept that night! I will always cherish this piece!

Throwback Thursday here as well. It's a V1 Talos with polished dlc and no exterior markings. The polished dlc is beautiful in person and looks like the blueing on classic S&W revolvers. I was told it is in S90V, but I have no proof of that.View attachment 3006275View attachment 3006276View attachment 3006277
Great piece! Those came out in 2014 and are in XHP. I saved a picture a while back when I was researching my Morph Talos that happens to have yours right next to it. That was a hell of a batch!

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification on steel type and some backstory! It is definitely a jewel in my collection!

Happy to help! Every now and then I’m tempted to send people obscure info I happen across about their rare knives, but I figure I already seem nerdy enough without sharing links from decade-old archives or other internet relics.

Mama-Mia , it’s just getting better and better 👍

what's value on these v1 nowadays...Rough range...I realize different knives with different setups are different dollars, thanks.

They come around occasionally 4-500. Pjs which seems to be the most common go closer to $400 in this market. Imo though I think they’re worth every penny at 5-600 considering they’ll never be made again. I hope some day the LG crowd becomes more like the crk crowd and really start to value these rare ones. So many are just wrapped up in magnacut and morph scales. There’s an extremely rare stock g10 just sitting for under $500. That’s crazy to me.
