The Les George Knives Thread

Les replied to me and said it would be smaller, have better machining, and better hardware . I didn’t internalize the size difference lol .

I thought it would be as big as this SMF I also got on today . Wrong

Less material on the scale below the pivot. Brings the grip further forward and eliminates the need for the elongated tail-end. I dig it.

I wanted to save the surprise for Tuesday, but this thread needs the full comparison picture:

Talos V1
Talos V2
VECP V3 Flipper
VECP V3 Button Lock

The new Talos is significantly smaller than the V1, but it is a much more refined knife. The action is smoother and the lockbar chamfering is noticeably more comfortable. I'll have additional thoughts once I spend some quality time with it, but if the Magnacut versions are anything like the prototypes, we're all in for a real treat!

I really dig that the morph pattern goes all the way to the end of the handle on the new Talos.

It's almost as if the Talos and VECP swapped sizes from v1 to v2.
It is wild that the VECP got bigger (with the button lock) and the Talos got smaller. It gives us more variations though, which I think is cool.

It's worth keeping in mind that the only V2 Taloses on the market are prototypes so it's possible the Magnacut versions will be larger. I don't think that's likely, but it could happen.

Wow nice score from blade . I love the Proto Talos v2. I think I’m going to find a morph VeCP magnacut to replace my button lock

Blade tip on my Proto Talos v2 is a bit off center towards the show side . Any tips to recenter ? Action is perfect so I’m reluctant to adjust it but … ocd

One thing with LG’s is they’re super easy to take apart and reassemble. But to dix that usually you can just loosen the pivot and body screws. Wedge a piece of paper in the side it’s favoring and then tighten up the screw starting with the back body screw working towards the pivot screw. Pivot screw being last.

Also, I used the teflon tape on the pivot screw like Necroanax Necroanax suggested and it worked great and don’t have to wait 12 hrs for loctite to dry.

Great pickup! What do you think of it? My Servo is scary sharp so I'm very careful about flipping it. Pretty much any other knife I can absent mindedly flip around, but that one is a razor.
Been years since I carried a flipper only but any skepticism went out the window after getting it in hand and cutting with it. Dig the choke up and the clip works extremely well. You're right to say it's a razor, shaved hair (and some skin off the fingers after forgetting how good the action is) no problem out the pouch.

As a complete outsider and confirmed Chris Reeve guy, Im rather jealous of you Les George fellas. I just love your enthusiasm for his knives and the excitement of new models and changes to existing.

Over in the CRK boards we are just as enthralled with our knives and the man who made them, however most of our focus is on a legacy and finding/using/collecting long discontinued knives. Our hero hasn't made a knife since 2015, and while the company he created is still well respected and very much alive, it's been relegated to making the same "upgraded" Sebenza with different inlays.

There will not be another Chris Reeve designed knife and our beloved Sebenza is all but disappeared after the 25. This isn't a dig on CRK and I think Tim is doing the best he can but he's not his dad.

But over here the room seems full of light and excitement. It's really cool. I recognize a few of you from around the forum but a bunch Ive not met. we have a tight group across the street and its fun to see another.

Anyway just the ramblings of a neighbor...

Love it! ⬆️ this is exactly why I’ve been pestering you! 😂. You know all to well I like to hangout across the street and I’m sure you can guess what will be going in the pocket after this monthly challenge. Blues Blues is dead on in how well they compliment each other. You will soon be finding out, can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Hopefully with due time we can have as great a group of guys here as yall are across the street!!

Day 20: Small Knife Saturday

It's not going to knock anyone's socks off, but the ZT0900 is a well-made and dependable little work horse. It's the only production knife modeled after Les's custom Mini Harpy.

On a related note, I consider myself fairly knowledgeable about Les's knives, especially the naming conventions, which can be a little confusing for new collectors. The Mini Harpy is obviously the smaller version of the Harpy just as the ESR is the smaller version of the Rockeye, the ESV is the smaller version of the VECP, and so on. What throws me for a loop is that I honestly can't tell the Mini Harpy and the ESV/R apart. I'll put a picture of them side-by-side below so you can check them out for yourself. The ESV definitely looks like a compact version of the VECP, but the Mini Harpy doesn't look like a compact version of the Harpy, whose most distinct feature is the sweeping recurve blade, something the Mini Harpy doesn't have.

If anyone has both an ESV/R and a custom Mini Harpy ( vt_jimmay vt_jimmay ?) please do me a service and take a few comparison pics. I need some education!
