The Les George Knives Thread

Ray really does incredible work. I've been trying to get on his books for the last year, but have been 0 for 4 in his lottery drawings. I was fortunate to pick this piece up from someone who already had it done. The texturing is definitely more than cosmetic as it has a great feel in hand. @ccsmith449 handled it the other day and I remember he remarked about how nice the grip was in person. Way of Knife has a number of laser grip options that are less expensive and a lot more attainable. I'll post a picture of what I had done to my plain scale ESV as soon as I get it back so you can see if lasering is something you'd be interested in.
That is something that I would be very interested in seeing as well!

Day 19: Frag Friday!

Since Charlie is taking a short break from posting his MEFP MK3, I'll happily pick up the baton. I owe a debt of gratitude to the wonderful @vt_jimmay for being kind enough to offer me this piece when he saw that I just missed the drop (thanks, baby monitor duty!). The fact that it arrived on leap year day is a special bit of serendipity that I will not forget. I really love frag, which not many Les pieces have, so I am absolutely thrilled to have this in my collection.
Props to your guy Jimmay!

I have to confess I missed the satin MK3 MEFP drop and sunk to the depth of actually offering on one of the ebay listings. The worst part is my offer was auto-declined twice. The demon apparently won't take less than $200+ over table yuck:poop::poop::poop:

Closed, Talos is noticeably shorter . Clip removed to show prototype logo

IMG_0297.jpeg
Handle is shorter, cutting edge is identical but blade is shorter because less ricasso, blade has less height and less belly

IMG_0299.jpeg
Overall handle width of the talos is thinner . 0.49” vs 0.515” for the VECP BL . Blade stock is the same at 0.15”

IMG_0301.jpeg
Feels very similar in hand . Extra jimping on the handle and on the blade on top is nice .

Action is incredible . Mitch you were right … the frame lock action is somehow even smoother and more satisfying than the button lock because of the detent .

Need some time to digest and see how I like it but first impressions are it’s great but so so similar . I had thought it was going to be a substantially larger knife than the VECP and that caught me off guard. New Talos OAL is 8 1/16” vs 8 3/8” for the VECP

So I just compared both my Talos’ to my flipper vecp and button lock. Turns out its the button lock that is bigger than the other versions of the vecp. The talos is only slightly bigger than the vecp but like you said about the same as the button lock.

I knew the talos wasn’t much bigger than the vecp but never realized the button lock was bigger.

Yea, what he can do with pb washers is mind blowing. I’ve always preferred thumb studs/discs over most other methods. And when comparing his to others is very impressive.

I think Les said on FB that it was in fact going to be slightly smaller than the original Talos. I think I want one of every possible combination. I don't know if I will ever encounter more than one at a time...but I don't know how I would decide.

Interesting would love to see a pic of that. Was the ano a mod?

I second this. Always love to see variations.

Not a mod AFAIK but I was not the first owner.

Les replied to me and said it would be smaller, have better machining, and better hardware . I didn’t internalize the size difference lol .

I thought it would be as big as this SMF I also got on today . Wrong

Can you show a side by side of the frame lock vs button lock VECP?
