The letters need to be written- Federal knife Ban update

I live in Canada and this has me worried as well.Autos are illegal here but AO are not. When they lump Assisted knives with Switchblades won't that make them illegal to import to Canada by default?Liner locks,Axis locks anything with a Carson flipper.Once this passes it'll be just a matter of time before the eggheads in Canada's government think it's a good idea.

Emails to my senators and representative have been sent. Letter to CBP will go out tomorrow.

My coworkers and I all sent our e-mails today. The letters go out tomorrow.

For those of you that decide to send the letters, make sure that you email Doug Ritter so he can keep track of how many people are following through with this

man this really sucks and is i am afraid just the 1st salvo more will be coming on other items.

i'll write my congressman in the next day/2.

UPDATE from Chuck Buck:

"Had a follow up conference call today with AKTI board today.

We are applying all the pressure we can to get the time extension needed to really mobilize grass roots support. We are requesting 180 days. The law firm of Sandler, Travis and Rosenburg in Washington has been retained to coordinate this effort.

NRA is sending a response asking for the extra time and I know both senators from Idaho are getting involved because I dealt with staff for both today.

We hope to know on the extension as soon as this week since the end of next week is the deadline anyways (June 21st is a week from Sunday)

Once we know about the time frame we can then begin gathering and organizing the grass roots support and asking for all the message support we can get.

Again...www.akti.org is being updated daily including downloadable letters and instructions"

This change does not surprise me in the least. I will be emailing my representatives. This sounds like Great Britain.

I have emailed both of my Senators and my Congressman. If you are concerned, I suggest that you do the same.

Crossing a state line with a Case slippie will be a felony! I think this guys name really is Osama.

Not laughing, but cursing out loud!

Customs Says "NO EXTENSION!" - They Want Your Pocket Knives NOW!
Breaking News: We have recieved word that U.S. Customs & Border Protection has DENIED the numerous requests for extension that it had recieved and is planning to stick with the June 21 deadline for comments.

CBP's denial of an extension seems to be a clear indication that they do not intend to act in a fair and reasonable manner on this issue and have already made their decison to go ahead. That means we have to set the stage for the next act, which will likely be conducted both in court and in Congress. The battle is far from over, your comments will play a role in both efforts.

Knife Rights is developing a new comments letter for concerned knife owners to send to CBP and a strong email to send to Members of Congress. We are not about to roll over for this clearly out-of-control government agency.

We'll be posting new letters and additonal information in the next 24 hours.

Letter and Emails sent yesterday. Took the info about the ban from kniferights to a buddy of mine who is barely keeping his knife store above water.

He lost his cool.

If this goes through he figures he'll be looking for another job. He's writing letters as well.

This is beyond the pale...

Emails sent to Senators and Representative today. Will encourage guys at work to do the same. This is the "soft war", let us hope we can stop it here.

We need to find an email address. The extension is "@cbp.dhs.gov." All we have to do is find a name or address and send emails by the thousands.

Unfortunately, word is that customs is ignoring all email responses regarding this issue. You're much better off writing actual letters.

We need to find an email address.
Being a non-elected body, US Customs has no particular interest in listening to the public. We are better off contacting our elected representatives. Sources for congressional electronic contact info:

Contacting the Congress allows you to search for your congressional representatives by your street address (in case you don't know who they are).

Congressional Email Directory is another website with contact information, although it is only sorted by state, party and name.

Write Your Representative is the offical on-line contact source for the House of Representatives.

U.S.Senate: Senators is the same for the members of the Senate
