The Loveless Shop

I guess the differance with Randall Knives is that it is a family run business with Gary simply "stepping into" Bo's shoes as I presume Jason will step into Gary's at some point in the future and the the "chain" remains unbroken.
With all due respect to Jim, who I have the utmost respect (and sympathy !!) for, it's kinda hard to carry on the same now that Bob is no longer with us. I assume that is why Marilyn Lile changed Jimmy's logo.
Just my "2 cents" worth from across the pond.

"On the other hand, Randal Knives for instance, didn't change a thing. And the demand never dropped."

Michael, what you wrote above is only partially correct - things did change at the Randall Shop when W.D. 'Bo' Randall's son Gary T. Randall took over. Specifically, standardization of the models and options - and while new models and options have become available since; with many avid collectors, the older 'individually characteristic' knives command a premium.

Anyhoo, if you weren't aware of this, I thought you should be... ;)

Nothing much to be aware of here. But I appreciate you pointing it out. Things always change. Both before through the years, and after. Its' the way a business works. Nothing is stagnate. Especially in the way an artist works. ( Bob would hate me saying that! But now he can't yell at me!)

This is why Jim and I were both against the change. The "Long Run" is more important that the right now!

When I was at The Loveless Memorial, Jim asked me to stop poking at you.

I'm honoring his request. He is a gentleman of superb substance and few words, and I wish him the best.

Some of Bob's friends including Jack Lucarelli indicated that when they first met Jim Merritt, they thought he was a mute....it was pretty funny. He and I chatted for some time.

Best Regards,

I just stumbled on this thread and was surprised to learn that the Loveless Shop is still going, with Mr. Merritt. You see my first Loveless knife needs refurbishing. That is a mild statement, it has been abused enough that I was embarrassed to send it back to Bob for work. Another I have has never been used but needs a little fine tuning. It is nice to know that there is an obvious place to have this work done.

So its a few years later was the logo changed? are wait times and prices different now than when Bob was alive?
and whats the current price of a new loveless drop point.

Jim is still making and refurbing knives.

The logo has changed to reflect "knives" instead of "maker". A Drop Hunter with Micarta runs around around $2K with no guarantee of delivery time.
