The Loveless Shop

As with your initial post, your "apology" is so transparently self-serving it is quite laughable.

Roger

PS - you are still making repeated posts in this thread and still declining to point out where STeven attacked Jim. I'm not surprised - after all, it's easier to barf up unfocussed rants than to man up and back up your accusations.

Jim has my back, I have his. We would never acuse each other of lying. We know each other too well, and have too much respect for each other.
That kinda leaves one other there Steven!

I just sent Jim an e-mail with every comment that you and I made in this thread, per his request.....I'll comment again when I hear back from him.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Mike,

It's a shame. I'm sure I'll see Steven and the others at a Show one day soon. Perhaps they will not be quite so arrogant face to face. Its' a lot easier to work out differences face to face. It has no business here on a Knife forum.

I will be at the following Shows:

Guild Show (this weekend)

SOS Show and the NJCKS in November

Arkansas Custom Knife Show and the ECCKS in February

Blade Show next June.

You feel free to look me up. We both know you won't.

I agree 100% that you won't be near as arrogant face to face.

Mike you 15 minutes are up...move along.

BTW, that is Nidan next to STeven's name...not Nissan. I point this our for two reasons.

1) You may not know what that means

2) Given your atrocious spelling...you could possibly mistake the two.

I started this post in order to honor Bob Loveless, and Jim Merritt. And thank them for all they have done for me as well.

This is why I find this thread to be rather unfortunate.
That there is a pissing match occurring over the newly dug grave of one of the greats is rather unfortunate. That this has devolved into name calling and has become one of the most disrespectful and least civil exchanges I have seen in my five years in the forum is rather unfortunate.

All I have left to say on this topic, is that I hope everyone can step back and take a breather. Whatever the facts may be, they are what they are. Spitting venom back and forth on an internet forum will change none of them.

I only posted because Steven asked me a question. This is my answer, and if anyone wants to question me on it, please pm me. I do not desire to be involved any further in this thread, thanks.

I hesitate to post here with all of what has happened over the past few days. I think that with Bob's passing and with what is at stake with the Loveless brand, we should give Jim a little time to grieve and to let everything that has happened with Bob's passing sink in a little.
With so much at stake, I would urge those close to Jim ask that he put out a statement or press release at his convenience outlining what changes, if any will be made regarding the future of Loveless Knives. I think this would put an end to any speculation regarding the future of Loveless Knives.

Now that is a really good suggestion right there.

Lorien got to agree with you on this. It'a about time they all STFU.

I have no reason to post this, but i will anyway. Mike, you fight a good fight. I admire you for standing your ground, against the apparent hostility. Though i have no idea what is behind it all, i feel sure there must have a long history with those who have voiced the barrage of negative remarks.
To me, i see Mike has an enduring "connection" to Bob Loveless' work.. whether you criticise and call it "copying" or stretch, saying he's greedy.. I think it's untrue. A fabrication. He's a knife maker, doing what he enjoys. I applaud his passion, and courage to speak and defend his work, and the history of his craft. If Bob Loveless was his friend and mentor, i'm sure he would be honored that Mike continues in the tradition.

Bob Loveless passed away just 11 days ago.

His FAMILY and FRIENDS are no doubt still grieving.

Think about that for a few minutes.

Whenever his work is mentioned, it always boils down to the same thing...

Making money.:thumbdn:

In every instance Mike is the first to sling mud and make a personal attack. When he gets a response in kind, he cries victim and complains about hostility. Standing his ground? Please. This is classic punch and run.

Since you found his conduct so admirable, maybe you would like to point out where STeven attacked Jim Merritt in this thread? Or do you find unfounded allegations admirable as well?

Mike and his defenders are long on generalizations and vitriolic hyperbole, but real short on specifics and backing up their claims.

Roger,
i cant back up anything, i just dont think he deserves a public lashing - teaming up against him. Is it really worth all the fuss? Just my impression on reading this thread.

David, when you go out of you way to publicly insult people, you invite a public response.

I'm not asking you to back up anything vague or conceptual - or something relating to who phoned whom or sent an e-mail saying what. Mike accused STeven of attacking Jim Merritt. You have said you admire Mike's conduct here. All I am asking is to show me where STeven did that. STeven's posts are all there for you to read. Show me anything that resembles an attack on Jim, or acknowledge that Mike made a false allegation.

This is how Mike operates. He once came on this forum to accuse me of continually bashing stock removal knives and stock removal makers - or words to that general effect. I responded by saying that if this was something I have been "continually" doing, he should be even to provide lots of examples. But I made it easy for him - I asked him to provide just one. Just one single example of where I had done that. I asked him more than once. Guess what? I'm still waiting for my answer.

Mike has also publicly and repeatedly called STeven a liar and made personal attacks against me. If you want to get behind that and endorse it, you can. And well, to this point, you have. But don't be a weasel about it. If you think he's right, say why. You're quite right - you didn't have to make the post you did. You chose to.

I agree with David, why all the fuss? No need to call him a weasel, is that not the same type of behavior you're criticizing Mike for? IMO, all the "players" here have what can be conceived of as an agenda. Let's take their opinions at face value and move on. I'm sure Jim has more pressing issues at the moment to deal with than a forum war...

Really Jose? If someone came on here and repeatedly called you a liar and I posted up applauding his posts - how might you feel about it?

I agree Mike got out of line, I've known Steven a long time too and never known him to be a liar. But perhaps we should take his OP at face value and just move on? We're all entitled to our opinions but maybe a new thread would be the best way to voice them...

All I can say is you guy's have not seen anything yet when it comes to fighting over the Loveless Legacy

but I agree with the last few posts. With all due respect to Mr. Loveless memory none of this is appropriate. If Mike, or STeven have stretched the truth time will bear this out. We will all know in the end.

As far as the "what would you do" take the advice that I am sure most all have given to their children; sticks and stones...
