Time for another giveaway(: I have up a Gerber EAB. Its barely used and I'll include a brand new blade. I would offer something nicer but I don't have anything else of value I'm not currently using. I started this thread welcoming all, and with no firm rules, for one reason: everyone should have a chance to give and receive. Excluding people who don't have memberships might not allow someone to give a membership, which has happened a few times already. Limiting to one thing per day might limit them from gifting one of those items to someone we don't know who needs the thing they received. Yeah, I don't want to stop that.

Watch the movie Pay it Forward. It was about getting a gift first and then giving something to someone as a thanks. Maybe we got it backwards. Or I did, at least. Either way, this has been great while it's been going like it has been going this way.

It's up to everyone to decide what we do next. If you are all insintant on limitations, that's a new GAW for someone else to police. I'm not up for that. PM me if you want to do that, and I'll shut this thread down so you can start the new one without confusion.

This is the problem and why people are making suggestions to govern this somewhat. Not everyone is giving, some are just taking. I think what you've done is absolutely awesome and I've had a great time giving and receiving, but when there are those who take and not give, that ruins the spirit for alot of us. We delt with for some time before speaking up. I'd be glad to start the new thread with the guidelines others and myself have suggested. We would hate to lose your participation.:grumpy:

I really didn't want to get involved, but this thread is AWESOME. All versions have been. I think that we will lose a lot of people and a lot of the spirit of this if we move to a regulated thread with a lot of rules and procedures. That would include me, I think. The reason this has been so great is because it's pure, unregulated generosity and GOODNESS from person to person. Of course, anything that is so great will be challenged by bad apples. However, we can avoid that and move on about our amazing business.

That's a good point! It's very easy to ignore or discount someone that you feel is not qualified. I think as long as people set their own personal standards it should be fine, and they shouldn't have to feel hesitant to post because of greedy folk.

I actually think that some people that started out calling dibs everywhere have really tried to get into the nature of the thread since. To be honest once you start to give things, it is hard to stop.

Would you give still if someone was too broke to give back? What about a membership? I just re-upped my Gold because this group of people of BF is an important part of what gets me through on my roughest days. I could barely afford to. If I couldn't, I would be devastated. This thread has offered some others possibly in my boat the chance to be Gold for the first time.

If there are to more votes for a new thread with your rules, I'll graciously bow out and close the thread. No offense taken. This has been amazing, and I have no regrets.

I'll hang in the background and see.

I've noticed the same recently. I honestly think though it was because of the comments of a few. I do think the one claim per day rule should apply, it just makes it more fair for the members who don't spend alot of time on the forum. I really don't think that will ruin the spirit of things
 
Yeah i like the organic nature of it too the more i think about it, and you can always include the condition "available to anyone was has not asked today" as well on items if you choose. That way it is up to the person offering if they want that to apply or not

They are not MY rules. There have been many suggestions by alot of members. All we are saying is implementing a one claim per day rule. It makes it more fair for members who don't spend alot of time on the forum.

I know, Ice, but you proposed the list. Just gotta have someone to own it with rules to monitor. Like I said, and I mean is, NO hard feelings if it goes this way. Just need to know what the group wants.

I have a strategy for eliminating competition in this thread: start giving out Brazzers subscriptions. People would be too busy washing their socks to reply and claim knives.
