The Match Case Project - Updated periodically.

Flix,

That is a thought. One reason not to is to have a solid striking surface (I finished the cap on the base with 80 grit sand paper to have a nice striking surface.

The other is that when full the case only weighs 1.75 ounces. We are talking grams here... I plan on making more though - so I will check out some more options.

Thanks for the compliment.

I just ordered 2 from K&M, a brass and a plain aluminum.
Looks like first rate kit to me, if the top fits as snug as they say,
I'd prefer it to be friction fit.

My KM plug stays put in a pack. The plug has come out several times in my pocket though. I have one of the aluminum ones not the brass ones.

Very nice, I almost took a machining course a while back, I wish I had, now.
How about a side by side with the K&M?
At about 20 bucks, the K&M must seem like a pretty good deal now that you see the work going into it, I bet.:D

Liam - You got that right man! The tube isn't bad... the cap has MANY steps...

I would wager that I can do one again in three hours... but I make 30 dollars an hour now... would you like to buy a 100 dollar match case? ;)

These are for fun and Christmas...

Last pictures before anno:

I installed the ferro rod temporarily for the pictures - the case holds 15-20 matches and the ferro rod. It is as waterproof as the K&M Case (I am sure - but I have not tested it).

I drilled out the bottom for the lanyard and installed it.

:eek:That thing is sweet....... Dude, you gotta make me one, it would match my fire piston I got from another member here perfectly:cool:.....Looks outstanding.....

Are ya gonna sell them? If so, I'll buy one with the compass.

Nice work........:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

The problem is that it would be patent infringement for me to sell them. It is a BLATANT K&M Ripoff.

Plus - with how long it takes me to make them manually - it would be EXPENSIVE!

I would simply buy a K&M and drill the base for a Ferro Rod - and epoxy it in.

Very nice! I might try that with my K&M's, I have a bunch of firesteels from e-bay, need to find something to do with them.

It's simple.

Just have K&M produce them with your modifications.

I'd love one like you have made and it would only increase business for K&M. I'm sure they can crank out something like this cheaper than you would be able to do on your own.

You have just taken a good product and made it far better.
