The Mighty Pequena

Thanks pal, it was for my 5000th post, each of the knives was gifted to me by another forum member :) :) :)

Really? Man the generosity of this place is outstanding. I especially love the Higonokami, Aitor, and the Buck. Is the Buck a 701?

Yes, impossible for me to look at that pic without a big smile, the kindness I've been shown here means a lot to me :) The Higonokami came from Blaine, the Aitor from Thom (ScruffUK), and the Buck from Duane

I believe the Buck is a 709 :)

Fun Fun Fun, and thanks for the great pictures too

Aitor is made in Albacete, very close to Barcelona. In 1330 that area of Spain comprised a kingdom known as the Crown of Aragon, whose territory included Sardinia, Sicily, and mainland Greece.

imo Aitor is a Navaja. The bend in the handle is part of that tradition. imo the blade shape develops from the curved handle.

Navajas originate in Spain in the 1600's, with horn handles

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navaja
"the earliest Spanish knives recognizable as navajas date from around the late 1600s...
The new spring-back navaja proved very popular throughout Spain and was later exported to or manufactured in other countries as well, particularly France, Italy, and the island of Corsica"

I liked that review, very informative. I too am a fan of Aitor, and their slipjoints, the overall profile is just really cool. The leaf shaped blade sets em off IMO. hey take a mean patina.

What?! Has the vendor discontinued it or Aitor themselves?

It would appear that the factory has stopped production:mad:

I can still get friction folders......but I wanted a slipjoint.

I have pasted part of the communication from the dealer
