The Mini AKB: Pocket Battleaxe

Wanting something makes it a need in and of itself.

My philosophy is if you want something badly enough you will find a way to get it. Regardless of spouses, rain, sleet, or dark of night. (wait, that's something to do with the mail getting through). I think I got my philosophys all mixed up.

In summary, my day will come if indeed there are enough days.

I'll save ya some skin, probably be plenty to go around.

This is a remarkable knife. One arrived here yesterday, and it's quite an impressive piece of hand-forged alloy steel. Overall length 10 inches, weight just over 12 ounces. The spine thickness is awesome for a knife of this length, a full 3/8" where the handle meets the blade.

The blade is highly polished and looks more like it has 2 fullers instead of being an Ang Khola style. Here are a couple shots that try to show the fullers:

The balance point is right where the handle meets the blade, and holding the knife reminds me of holding a roll of coins in my hand. The full-size handle feels perfectly balanced by the blade. Of the 10 inches total, 5-1/8" is blade. As shown in the photo below, the spine thickness is 3/8" at the previously mentioned balance point, and tapers in both directions (tapers down to 3/16" at the top rear of the handle, and 5/16" where the spine starts to drop toward the tip).

Bhakta kami made these mini AK bowies before he left HI. I think that Auntie still has a couple remaining (the 6/25 DOTD seems to be unclaimed).

hope one doesnt show on the dotd( blade looks wonderful !)
because it will vanish ( and ill mail it to bawanna !)

Looks good.

Lately I've become interested in short, heavy blades -- that is, short by HI standards. Trouble is, most of the shorter blades seem to come with short, thin handles. No matter how short the blade is, you still want to have a good grip on the handle. This mini-AKB seems to fit both needs.

That's the most beautiful knife I've ever laid eyes on. Holy quocamole that is a pretty thing. A beast, how did steely describe it, a Pit Bull of something?

That thing takes my breath away. Bhakta is the Da Vinci of Mini AK's I think. Wow, I keep scrolling back up for another look!!!!!

I don't think I've ever seen one finished so polished and well put together, nice wood, that has to be a special one.

I'd pay just to look at that thing, thank goodness it's here to eyeball all I want for free.

Wow!... right Bawanna. That one is particularly beautiful. The fact that I can legally carry that just about anywhere is starting to sound attractive! I can imagine with a short lanyard around the pinky you could choke back on the handle and really whack some coconuts!

Steve, my friend, that blade is entirley too clean. Go dirty it up a bit;)

dammit there is another on the list of things i gotta buy ! I love the full tang handles with a hole in the end for a chord or loop, very cool

They were in stock in Reno Gehazi and although I couldn't find it I think the 6/25 DOD never got grabbed as Steve Tall mentioned.
I sent you a message I hope. I haven't totally figured out the message thing but I think I did, I hope I did.

Of all the HI knives I've had over the years that were meant to be used the Panuti farm knife has to be number one, next to a Khukri it's about the meanest chopper I've seen the Kami's put out and to be frank it's more of a hatchet then a knife.

I could see one with a five to seven inch blade, make a wicked camp knife!

I think it's time for a vote here. Every one who thinks it's time for an intervention for Gehazi respond with a heck ya.

I do like your style Gehazi. Do check for my message.

yeah i love the short thick blades, especially the chord hole at the end of the full tang, i love that, got your message bawanna ! and yeah this forum is great, i love coming here just to read all the positive energy coming off here ! one day probably after I get my super duper money sink customs , im going to post my entire blade collection with maybe my revolvers or books , something im impressed with my self about . but i do want to share them all eventually, but they must be perfect and i must have a wall for them.-- I was not a fan of the HI bowie before this thread, now i kinda feel like I gotta have some good examples.

Same with me, just didn't sing to me when I first saw them, holding the big one at Aunties kind of 180'd me and when I heard of the little one (thanks so much Steely) I was totally converted.
Like Pugs, I may have a little but now I want a BIG one too. The little one will see some use I'm thinking.
I actually have my Pen Knife which I dearly love too in a pocket on my chair everyday.
The Mini AK may replace or even ride with it. Can't have too many sharp pointy things can ya? I mean right tool for the job and all that.
If I can come up with a hidey spot I'd have the 25" Siru on board too. Who says wheelchairs are a bad thing.

Big Daddy is still sweet to:

But I do want a little one as well

Big Daddy is a sweetheart! Is that one of your own sheaths, has to be, scratch that, stupid question, of course it is.
I'm dumb.

yeah its pretty much decided bawanna, im in the same boat, gonna get some HI bowie samples , must get -- may get pugs to make me some sheaths too if he can make them all that sweet red color.

Bawanna,
Yes sir that's my work, but you knew it. And Gehazi I sure can do that color no worries give a shout when your ready.

Maybe I can slip mine in with Gehazi's and he wouldn't notice it on his bill? Do mine first though please, actually probably 2 of mine. For him, just how long does it take to make 67 Kuhkri sheaths on say a rush order? Just curious.

Oh, like we talked you need the knife in hand to make the perfect fit sheath too, probably have to call a freight outfit, UPS could never handle that. Gehazi you make me so gosh darn proud sometimes. Gonna be a hell of a wall.
