The Mini Thread (Grip, Presidio, Stryker, etc)

Love my mini Ritter. It really does everything right for my needs.

The Ritter Mini-Grip is a great EDC!

The Benchmade Mini-Grip has taken over my pockets! I carry the Pardue at my work because I think the slimmer satin blade looks better in an office setting and the M390 Ritter in my jeans for utility work. I couldn't ask for a better EDC knife: comfortable, capable, and high value, IMO. :)

I ended up not working today, so I took quite a few pictures. For some reason it was taking forever to upload pics on Photobucket, so I'm posting a few :D

I got my first Mini Grip right after they were released. I carried that knife daily for a few years, and used it harder than any knife I have ever owned.
I never was a big fan of serrations though, and even though I liked the knife, and it still had lots of use left in it, I retired it. During one of my times when I burnt out on knives, and liquidate most of them, I decided to sell that one too... Kinda wish I still had it, but I've picked up a couple early Minis in 440C to make up for the "loss" :D

Up first is my Ritter Mini Grip in M390

A few other Mini Grips... I have a few more I will be ordering. Had planned on it sooner, but other things in life moved them down the list of priorities :D
Out of all the different knives I have owned over the years, the Mini Grip is my absolute favorite folder. It's funny because when I got my first Mini, I had the same initial reaction that many do. This thing is a cheap P.O.S...
It did feel that way after carrying a G-10/ATS-34 705 for a few years. Once again, as I've done a "few" times in my 53 years, I was wrong

This early 440C Mini has been my EDC knife for probably about a year now...

This one I picked up from a fellow forum member about 8 months ago. I can't decide if I want to keep it or not. It's a nice knife, and never been used, but I'm not a huge fan of coated blades...

Some minis and a few not so minis. The Mini Dejavoo remains an all time favourite of mine.

Just picked up this Mini Barrage 585. Seems like a bit of a snafu on the etching...

I have been edc'ing the mini for some time now.. but lately the mini axis Stryker has been in my pocket..

Im really hoping they do a limited mini Stryker with a nice steel
How sweet would it be in m390?! Even s30v ...

I think we mostly know that BM won't upgrade your blade steel unless that blade/steel configuration is discontinued, but I emailed BM anyway to see what they'd say in regards to upgrading an S30V Ritter Mini Grip to M390. This was their response :

"In a nutshell, it is because you are asking us to put together a knife combination that does not exist. The Ritter Griptillian is only offered with the S30V steel, so making this modification would be creating a custom knife for you- and we do not customize these models."

Doesn't exist? I politely responded that there is, in fact, an M390 model that Knifeworks is selling as we speak. Even the large S30V version is listed as discontinued on KW's site. She responded that she double checked that yes, there is a M390 version, but bottom line is that they still won't do it and wished she had a better answer for me. I think she was slightly embarrassed, but it's ok.

So eventually, all S30V versions will be discontinued and they'll basically have to upgrade with M390 at some point. They probably have some of the S30V blades left, but I'd be interested to see what kind of response someone that has a large S30V Ritter gets when asking about a blade replacement and pointing out that it's discontinued. I think they'd just say to send it in, and it'd be a crap shoot as to which steel you'd end up with. I'm sure they will resist upgrading these blades as long as possible.

Sounds like she lied to you, got caught, then went into damage control mode.
