The most American Knife

I have been told that Barlow was the name of a family in Sheffield England that made that particular pattern. The company was sold out to Imperial Cutlery and they owned the name Barlow. Companies can make a Barlow pattern but can't legally but the name Barlow on it.

The Case number 54 large Trapper is their number one selling pattern. It comes in a number of different handle types and the handles are constantly changing. Case is the most collected traditional knife in the world. Still proudly made in Bradford, Pa.

Looks like the Buck 110 is the winner, ticks off a lot of the boxes.
-American made
-Relatively affordable
-Associated with USA

It would be interesting to see how some of our fellow board members from other countries view it

The Bowie is the quintessential American blade

When you picture different cultures and countries and you ask what blade defines them the answer is simple

Italy brings to mind the Gladius

Japan the Katana

Nepal the Khukuri

If every country used a blade on their flag ....... The Bowie would fly on ours

At least I hope so

A Buck is a great knife but it does not look good on a flag :)

The Bowie Jim Bowie got made in Arkansas at Old Washington post.

Yet the Bowie knife wielded by Jim Bowie at the Alamo is owned by Phil Collins and being donated to a museum in Texas 😁 󾓦➡󾓪➡󾓦

Agreed...first knife that flashed when I read "American" was KaBar

There is but another, with just as much tradition and iconic amercanness as the buck 110 or kabar and it's a modern one too.
The leatherman multi plier is the quintessential American edc item.
