These crazy bay prices are often manipulated by the sellers. They have multiple user accounts, then make bids jacking the price way high. Then when the auction is over, they second chance the highest of the "real" bidders and see if they will bite. The idea being they will think because the bidding got so high that the item is actually worth what it got bid to.

Once this is done a few times, the bay will ban those other accounts IP addresses but Im sure they have some way around that too.

I do think the bidding is crazy on this one... even with how awesome the GWs are.

On a side note... The seller does put together a great bushcraft package, and does an excellent job in the write up / description and pics. This does usually help in commanding a higher price on his sales.

I will say that this is the first time I've seen this crazy bidding activity on any of his sales that I've watched.
But, I'm very curious as to how this particular auction will pan out. :thumbup:

Whoever the seller is, he's a Professional it states.

Maybe hes so good that his Professional edge is worth $810 ???

If anyone has his website let us know please...I need one convex'ed and he must be very good. And he may not be as backed up as Ban.

Although, you can't blame some of us for thinking this auction is fishy looking, but if he's kin and you say so... that's that.:o I doubt Ronnie meant anything by it, because there are in fact many a retard at the bay. No apology needed : ) I understand. He tried contacting the zero feedback guy and got no reply(though he has had an account for a long time). If it were me selling it, then I would cancel his bid though some might also perceive that as shady since the second highest bidders bid is now known.

Now that we have part of the storey I feel sorry for your family member. I bet he is VERY confused by this...I would be.

I feel two people may be jerking him around, and will never pay. I hope I'm wrong and they do pay him, but feel its unlikely.

Best of luck to him! And I hope I'm wrong about what the two buyer's are doing.

dericdesmond, the reason theres so much speculation is because there usually two reasons for things like that to happen, shill bidding or ignorant bidding. Shill bidding is where two or more "friends" of the seller falsely bid over and over again to raise interest in the product. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. This looks an awful lot like that, no offense intended, if it quacks like a duck.

Since you explained, its looking like the ignorant bidder, those guys have no idea what they are bidding on they just know what they want.

Nah, no reason to feel sorry. It seems at least 3 people are willing to pay big bucks. Mike can turn turds into treasures. Im sure it sounds like Im giving the man a slow jack ball rub but I mean it when I say it, his work is the best.
