the most mind boggling question ever

And has anyone here ever seen the documentary/ book "Survivathon"?
Two guys living in northern Quebec without ANY tools for over a month?
I saw a documentary on discovery about this a few years back, unfortunately i haven't seen the book or video for sale anywhere.
Also the Austrailian series "Bushtucker Man" is excellent. CLT in Canada used to run it occassionally.

Hey tholiver,

I've seen it and I have it. It was about Dr. Andre Francois Bourbeau and a buddy who picked a spot on a map, were flown in, and they reported in every day to a local radio station to apprise it of how they were doing. Bourbeau, I believe, also wrote his thesis on it and his thesis became a book called Survivathon. Unfortunately, it was only in French. Le Baron, in Toronto, used to carry it years ago, but I haven't seen it in a long time. And as far as "without any tools", that is wrong. He had the most important tool of all - his brain, but I know what you mean.

Bourbeau is the webmaster (or at least used to be), of a forum called Primitive Skills Group. You may find it if you do a search. The reason I have it, is I taped it from tv. It was also with a documentary about Bourbeau and 3 buddies who recreated fur trade era clothing, tools, etc., and embarked on an old fur trade route in Quebec. Quite enjoyable.

I also taped as many episodes of Bushtucker Man as I could. I really enjoyed that show. What a job the guy had. He was a major in the Australian army and his job was to interact with the aboriginal people in the Northern Territories, to learn about Bush tucker (wild foods) and record them for use by the Australian army.

Quote: DISCO : If i was stuck out in the wild i would definately go with Mears.

I don't completely agree with this. It would depend on where you were. In jungles, definitely Mears. In northern Canada, it would be Les all the way. The problem with Survivorman is Les' skills are not portrayed the way it really is. Les is more than competent in the north woods. But then I think you're probably British, so I can understand the bias, and I don't mean this in a negative way.
