The MOST RIDICULOUS KNIFE I'VE EVER SEEN the Cold Steel G10 XL ESPADA.

I have the Voyager X2 (I think) 6" blade. I thought that was a huge folder, but nooooo. I had to stop EDCing it when I moved to Texas (5" state, 4" Dallas). I saw pics and almost bought a Rajah II after seeing that here, but this is great / nuts. Too bad I could not carry this thing without arrest risk here.

I handled one in my local knife shop yesterday. It's $139. I thought my XL Voyager was large. I tried to drop this in my pocket for fit, but no go. Too much was exposed, and the portion in my pocket was just too large to move comfortably in. I asked about durability, and the dealer said he had a customer call to return his because he was chopping with it and the blade chipped, and the lock developed slop. I'm not sure what degree of chipping or lock wear we're talking, but the dealer is a pretty straight-up guy. I'm actually glad he talked me into buying the cheaper knife (Spyderco Resilience) instead of making a buck by selling me this expensive, cumbersome gimmick blade.

I think that I will get one of the L 5.5-inch blades instead of this one.

Plus a RaJah II.

haha! i have to get one of these for working the cook offs!

has anybody modified one by cutting down the extra finger bumps towards the end of the handle?

i honestly didn't think there was a folder bigger than my Rajah II...guess i was wrong haha! Carhartt work pants have a tool pocket just below and the side of the RFP that holds my Rajah II perfectly so it might be somethin you want to try out with that.

The blade is centered perfectly, with zero blade play. It also came with a very decent edge. I'm going to rework the edge from hair shaving to hair splitting, as this is a weapon.

How would you rework the edge to go to hair splitting? Would that be the same as hair popping? I find hair popping quality very hard to achieve, not really sure about hair splitting. I saw a few Tai Goo knives do it, but they where almost scaples. As for shaving, I expect that.

Thin out the edge a little bit, starting with a DMT xcoarse, bringing it all the way up gradually to .25 micron diamond spray. I can get a hair to split of a fine stone, everything after that is just to show off, but it's just a hobby.

Cool, thanks. I have NEVER been able to achive it though I have tried. My goal is the hair popper. Jimmy Fikes blades do it, but I can't find a Fikes anywhere.

Here in Florida, the officer would most likely ask to have a flick or two at it while he was admiring the thing. Its a freedom issue, dontcha know.

The knife itself is the perfect answer for those not wishing to tote around a 7.5" fixed blade, especially the gator trapper/hunters who are forever being harassed here by tourists. Last summer I did a short stint in a gator "resettlement" project, and actually had men no higher than my collarbone threatening bodily harm if I DARED hurt one of God's cuddly creatures.

And the law won't let us use 'em as bait, neither. Makes a man want to write his congressman.

Gunny,
They probably would not work as bait anyways, gators eat meat not tofu.

Wow, I thought my Rajah II was huge, Good GOD man that thing is big.

Ya, second thoughts on this are: Keep my Rajah and just get an xl Voyager. That Espada would just be a boat anchor for me. I guess we all find our limits eventualy.

Man, that thing is sweet! The handle looks like it would be very comfortable in use. I think it would make for a great backpacking blade or to carry on the motorcycle for camping trips. I'll bet it's a nice slicer.

I realize this thread is old. But in my quest to up the size of my Rukus, I found this. I used to EDC a vaqero Grande, and never noticed it in my pocket. I had to reach down to feel if it was there. This one might be different though!

Almost got a Rukus a few years back, kind of wish that I had. Oh well, always something new around the corner anyway.

Nice photos.

The 10-year-old in me LOOOOOVVEESSS that knife. But the 33 year-old me thinks he'll just stick with the Sebenzas. :-)
