Trash?!? No way!

That picture really proves the old adage "One man's trash is another man's treasure."

Or put another way, "One man gathers what another man spills."

My verdict is complete on the Max Flite. It is incredible. I haven't had any discomfort period. I bit my tongue until I got all my ride types in.

J, you are right, it got more comfortable. Long road rides, long gravel trail rides, and today the woods. I was worried in the woods the shape on the back of the saddle might catch when I got behind the seat but it didn't. So all is well.

About a mile into the trail the leaves were covering a MUD RUN about 30 yards long, all torn up from horses. Well I hit it and shifted way up and pedaled and somehow made it. My Max Flite has been broken in.

Stopped one more time for a pic, just verging on medium difficulty for back here. I would stop more but I just keep going so I don't eat it.

Go ahead make fun of the flag I taped on the seat post this morning :p

Do I need to worry about the seat getting covered in mud like it did?

Happy riding.

RichStag-

I just noticed you have bar ends. So did everyone back in the day. To quote Jerry Seinfeld, "not that there's anything wrong with it," but they provide absolutely no benefit. I say loose them and spread your grips and controls out to the ends. Less cramped more leverage.

I use them, or I would have taken them off by now.

For the sake of conversation though, and since you have extremely helped me with the saddle, did you really notice an advantage without them?

The theory was that they provided extra leverage for hill climbing and more hand positions for long non-technical rides. I found I didn't like them for hill climbing because if you had to shift, it required you to move your hand which is not so easy on a tough hill when your cranking on the bar ends. Also I didn't like being in a position where I had to let go of the bar ends to get to my brakes. I like my hands right there at the controls at all times. In the end I found that the extra leverage you get having your hands wider apart on the bars was superior to what the bar ends provided. YMMV.

Gotcha and I agree with everything you said. I use them mainly for climbing on the road when I don't need brakes or shift changes. They are good for long cruises with the girlfriend too. Mainly, like you said, non technical climbing. I may give it a try, its not hard to switch it. They did save my hands one time when I hit a tree on my old bike though. A little protection.

I never use them on anything very technical, and NOTHING that I need to make any kind of changes or just feel SECURE.

Thanks for the info.

I had a grape vine rip the bumper of my jeep in the woods, that was funny. Vines suck :-P

I need to watch this thread :D

It's been too long since I've done biking of any kind

Bar ends just look dangerous. Lol. Some placeson the trails I ride you barely have room for just your bars and you have to watch your shoulders too cause your at speed

I guess looks can be deceiving J? :)

The spot behind me consist of about 20 miles of interwoven trails. From heavily horse ridden trails, to deer trails and all in between. I know saying this I am going to go out and kill my self due entirely to having bar ends...but they haven't presented much danger in my riding. Crosses Fingers.

The other spot around here for serious trail riding that is actually widely known is Loch Raven Reservoir. They are ranked nationally as one of the best spots.

If you ever make it to MD, bring your bike ;-)
