I also have a Trek 4300 SL for towing a bike trailer.

I will probably be getting a Carbon frame 29'er soon. I rode one the other day and liked the ride.

I looked it up also and found a long write up. Sounds like the bike for you J. Handmade US frame too.

Nice. Last weekend was an incredible weekend in the woods. Just amazing. Brought the bikes down to the eastern shore for the long weekend. About an hour down the road got a screw into my rear tire. Damn. Ever try walking miles of corn fields in carbon fiber shoes? F that.

Haha, I have a patch kit, spare tube, tire levers and nitrogen cartriges in my camelbak but I just didn't feel like breaking it down on the side of the road. Its my own fault for wanting to get to the house and do it in a clean environment.

patch kit.

I'm guessing when Richstag replies he'll say he didn't just get a hole in his tube, but also ripped his tire's sidewall. A patch kit ain't gonna fix that- you need a tire boot. Although you can use paper money, duct tape or something like a powerbar wrapper, after I had a tire wall rip and tried that, I bought a Park tool boot.

Llike the boy scouts, us riders gots ta be prepared. Here my repair kit, more or less. More for epic rides, less when I'm sticking closer to home. For road everything I take goes in the under saddle bag. For MTB it's a combo of the saddle bag/Camelbak.

Here is what you're looking at:

Mini-Pump
co-2 pump
spare tire
tire levers
patch kit
zip ties
small SAK
chain link
spare derailleur hanger (live and learn)
para-cord
chain-breaker/multi-tool (Ritchey)
one-piece multi-tool (Park)
adhesive tire boot
spoke wrench
plastic bag
i.d.
duct tape
wet wipes

Yes, there is some redundancy, but it's been a long time since I had to walk home from a ride.

Edit: No tire wall rip I see.

Sweet kit Beenbag, and yes I would need a tire boot which I don't have. I was contemplating very hard to try a few patches and a new tube, but I saw a straight shot across the corn fields to the towers on the river by the place. I judged the distance a litte off ;-p.

Picutre the rear of your heals completely blistered and falling off...the entire rear of your heal...ouch.

I'm going to try a set of nevegals. Redundancy is good.

Nope, the sidewalls were in tact but the torn up hole in the tire was big enough the tube would have just squeezed through it and given me a flat soon again.

I would post up some pics but I dont feel like loading the POS photobucket app on my blackberry.

All is not lost. Taking the dog to the beach for a long walk. Shit happens. I keep smiling.

Found a 2011 Womens Specialized Myka Elite 29er 17.5" frame for my girl. Awesome price and no sales tax. Waiting to here back from the shop for an even better close-out price.

What do you guys think? It felt like a solid bike with okay components.
