The "My Turn for a GAW" GAW *WINNER ANNOUNCED!!!*

Nice, glad to have surprised you and the lanyard is for keys of course, and I find that it works great in that respect, some today are far too long to be of practical use. and the coin is vintage 1960's I use to have some wheat pennies to send but those have been misplaced when we moved I'm afraid.

Congratulations Gary! And Darren! Also thanks for the great GAW. That's a great knife for sure. Like many others have said this was a good thread, really enjoyed seeing the things that brings us all happiness. I must confess I look forward each day getting home relaxing and spending time on our porch. It dawned on me this is a "happy place" we ALL share together!

Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley congrats btw and wow to the box... where did you get it or can you share some the instructions to make one myself.

Thanks, that is a box that is hard to come by any more, I have the folks where I work keep an eye out for them, as we use to get them in from a supplier in Germany that shipped his delicate sensors inside, but now, he has dropped using the box and just has them wrapped in foam :( so there are not many left that I have, but I thought he might appreciate it to store and display his collection as they are just about perfect for traditional knives. And if he has a larger one, I have carved out the foam carefully to the size of the knife and then it rests in there exactly.

So, I'm sorry but they are not available to buy unfortunately nor do I have the wherewithal to make them, clever I am, but not so much in that area of expertise :)

Added a lanyard on there, drop the knife into the pocket, bead hangs out, easier to pull from the pocket, can also slip the bead/knot under the belt so the knife hangs and isn't a weight in the pocket as well. One rugged folder, the spey blade reminds me of an elephant's toe with it having such a wide flat ground blade, both blades sharpened up razor sharp as well.

Thanks again for this unique folder!

Thanks, the whipping knot near the knife helps to keep it from flopping around into the area of the blades and just kinda keeps things in control, the knot stays out at the end this way as well.

While the knife was like new in box, these types of folders have abrupt corners of the liners and edges of the bolsters as seen here;

also the center liner was quite a bit higher than the bolster areas so I took that down to even with the bolsters

Here are a couple after shots, I also sanded along the edges to remove any crispness after rounding down the corners to help make it more pocket friendly, this of course did not harm the operation of the blades at all.

So for those of you that might have a knife with sharp corners it’s pretty easy to fix, so I just wanted to show how to make it a little more pocket friendly.

Thanks again for this rugged folder!

Thanks, the knife is hefty, the lanyard really helps with the carry as well as the softening of the end there too.

I also round the points/corners of the spine of the knife where they meet up with the back springs while open. Dismokd stone, then ceramic stick, then a loaded chromium oxide strop to polish.
Lovely prize.
Congrats to the winner.
