Yup its Dave! Good memory!

Yeah I can surely bring the oven...just needs 110V. It heats up fairly quickly, but might take a bit to get up to SS heats if people want to HT some D2, etc... I also have about 5 gallons of HT oil that I can bring a few of....

If i had been active in the last two months, id be willing to do a clay coat demo, but I may be rusty! I will see what I can come up with before the Hammerin....

I am in the marekt for an anvil now that I have the house, so if anyone has a spare or one for sale, let me know!

Thanks Dave I'll put that down..

one good thing about a bad memory is.. I'm always making new friends :)

Ok, I've checked on this string since it was mentioned that I might want to go to this HI at the beginning of the month. I went to the NECKA site, but nothing says whether these are day long events, or over a weekend. I don't think I'll be coming to one until I actually have more things for my own "shop" (Which I have no space for) so I can come home and practice what I learn. :)

I also think it would be nice if they were held in other areas since I'm in Northern Vermont. If someone could explain what is expected of attendees, a basic schedule of what happens during the day and when, and what might be available for the other family members who will be coming to the area but not attending the HI.

I'll keep looking around for more info. Thanks.

Keep em sharp.

Oldtools,
Yea, we are a little disorganized on this one, had to change locations on short notice and we have only been at this for a few years.

Check the first post on this thread for an updated list of demonstrations, we haven't done a schedule yet and some things might be done at the same time.

What you will experience is a very good bunch of knife people with wildly varied experience and abilities. Most will be more than happy to talk to you about any subject or point you to someone who might know better. I showed up at the first Hammer In with the first knife I ever assembled, I learned more than I ever expected to and got some great encouragement (and honest evaluations) along with the information I needed to do better in the future.

As for the state of your shop, I just had my hand tools and 25 years experience as a machine technician on automated machines used for electronics assembly. If you can't make this one (our first not in eastern Mass.) come visit the next one this spring (location to be determined) Contact Dan Gray to see if there is still space for this one.

If you join or not, you will further your skills, knowledge and understanding of this addictive craft.

Paul Duerr (Polock)
Secretary, NECKA

HI oldtools
yes, what Paul said..
this will be one day and all day..
as Paul said this one is a bit unusual because of a late switch of locale..
This should not happen in the future.
this next summer I'll be having a function going on here at my shop,
or very close to it..and have a public Demo of what we all do..
and I have some plans to present for other places to do things as such..
but I'm not sure if I'm any closer to you or not..
I'm mid Maine. about 200 miles from the border going the 95er way..
a bit closer if you are up on the northern end of NH way..rt 2
I'm thinking you might be..you are welcome to attend for sure..
for other things for family to do if not wanting to attend the at the H/I
I'm not sure maybe one for the others will comment on it..

Guys I'm going to be On my 10 month adventure starting next week.. so I'll be in and out here and there..
we have the rent on the coast now, but still not sure about computer access yes..I'm sure I will have dial-up anyway.
but I'll be here 2 days a week and weekends at least..no shop access there,,,
if you all have question for me , email would be a more sure way of it until I know more..30 years here and now moving for part of the time is going to be different for sure for me..the 5 hour round trip will suck for sure..but we got a rent 3 miles from the wife's new job.. but 10 miles father from home then I first thought we'd be..:thumbdn: :)

Thanks Dan and Polock. I live 45 minutes from the Canadian Border, 40 minutes from Burlington, VT, and 50 minutes from New Hampshire, and I took Rt. 2 into St. Johnsbury before taking Int. 91 down to Rt. 302 over to Bath yesterday.

I'm three hours from the Mass. border at best. Keene, N.H. sounds like a great place to have an H.I. for me. Lebanon, N.H. or Littleton, N.H. would be better. :)

Sorry, I post too much.

Hi Guy's, could you add me to the list?

I'll be out of touch probaly till then (vaction and moving). I should be able to find someway to check my mail but don't know about the forum. If theres a problem a email would be best.

I'll be driving out from Worcester, if someone need a ride from there send me an email.

I'll bring some food of some sort...

Brian

Brian I'll get you on the list
