The New 124 for 2012

Yeah, not much chance of that. :( It would probably have to have the tired old Buck/Anvil/Custom stamp for it to happen and I much prefer the stamp as shown. :)

OK. Okay.

Here's the deal: In addition to the black Micarta handle 124, make three others (red, white and blue Micarta solid/one color per handle) and I will buy four at a whack. Deal?

Well, if they do that, I might be tempted to see your four and raise you one.

:D

Top one: Handle looks like canvas Micarta that hasn't been fine polished.

The top handle is canvas micarta that has a polish. The canvas does not take as high of a polish as the linen micarta will.

The only way that it will get any better for me is if it has the "Designer's Choice" stamp on the other side of the tang.

I do not believe that it will have a Designers Choice stamp on the backside of the tang. :(

Having the picture is great and explains the length discrepencies. 6.25" is the sharpened blade length. The choil area (is that the right term?) adds another .5" or so for the 6.75" full length. The knife didn't really shrink after all.

Heng Em.......pardon if I'm not getting something obvious.

I still don't understand what you mean by "except for the handle."

How will the actual 2012 124 handle be different from your picture?

Thanks.

(And thanks for being such a good source of information on this knife!)

:)

The production handle will be linen micarta. The material color is the same, but the texture is different from the canvas micarta in the picture. The linen micarta will actually take a better polish as well.

Thanks much.....you have been a great help.

(Now I don't have to cancel my order......maybe I'll increase it.)

:)

Gee, I kinda liked the texture look of that canvas Micarta.
And like Oregon said, how about different colors so we can justify buying one of each?

Maybe if we all jump on the bandwagon we could get them to put out a 2013 Ivory Micarta?

I'd like that!

And 2014?

RED... I like red.

What shade? Fire engine red or maroon or some other variant (Hunter Orange, perhaps, I like HO but really not a red is it).

2015 handle color: BLUE

or if wishes were horses beggers would ride...

I like the words of sage/soothsayer/singer Sheryl Crow in 'Soak Up The Sun'... "It's not having what you want... it's wanting what you have.". Ill be happy with the new 124 as it comes. I don't have a 124 - and really would like to have one.

Phooey! I'd rather have an S30V blade, brass fg & pommel, rosewood Dymondwood handle... a 124BR. And... Sheryl Crow is a loon - but I like her singing.

I feel better... but still don't have a 124...

When can we expect them?

LOL, thanks for the mirth.

Do you speak with a Southern drawl? Because I read it with a Southern drawl. And, now, want you to type phonetically with a Southern accent because I don't subscribe to Cheryl Crow's song word philosophy and ... :)

BTW, all good (I like em) suggestions for future 124s.

When you think about the huge interest when one of the old maroon handles shows up on e-Bay......and how people covet the white handled ones......

Yes, now that Buck has this 124 thing going.......a series of different colored handles seems......

Both logical and profitable.

Most of us would keep buying at least a couple per year to own all the variations in this new issue.

Count on it.

oregon,

Why, suh, y'all aint got the real me. Youze guys didn't know I was born in Brooklyn, NY? I went to PS9... and played in Prospect Park... later lived in Bayside, LI. I'm a transplant - finished HS in Birmingham - graduated from Auburn... hate Southern cooking!

I wait patiently for the 124's release... really. How much longer?
