The new Case Bose teardrop

That's a pretty one to, but I'm liking the two bladed version.

While there have been any number of negative reviews on a few other forums regarding the Tear Drop, I find my example to be free from defects of any kind, the walk and talk is somewhat less than what I like. The half stop, well, stops with authority, but I find the main blade closes with some hesitation. The blades are perfectly centered, and the workmanship is superb. That said, I give my TD an 8 out of 10; she's a definite keeper.

Alnamvet68 I concur with everything you said about the knife. Mine's been in my pocket since the day I got it and has quickly become one of my favorites.

Nice sir, here's a couple shots, edited to be in black and while...for a mood ;)

Still lovin' this classy folder, if I could hold one of the stag scaled ones in person I'd spring for one of those, as long as the stag wasn't thick...

Just received my single bladed tear drop. For dress clothes, I don't like a large knife. This knife is just about perfect for casual and dress and I really like the spear blade.

Yep, it's knocking my new Peanut out of the lineup, as the pen blade is just about the same size as what's on the Peanut but a slightly longer handle helps with control.

Although, I'm still not getting very good walk and talk out of the Teardrop, I've cleaned it and oiled it, but still sluggish, mainly the pen blade, I'm guessing it may be due to the extended back spring?

Anyone have a Case Teardrop that has good snap on both blades?

edited to say, I ain't giving up the Teardrop, so don't ask me ;) once the blades are open, they're great, so having a softer walk and talk isn't really a big issue, just wondered if it's a very common issue with all of them?

Just got my Ebony teardrop, Shot show edition. The blade is well centered, flush at all three positions, VERY hand friendly and smooth. I like it very much, the frame shape is beautiful, the blade shape is very interesting. Over all I like the knife. However, the buffing is pretty bad at the bolsters with wayyy too much hollow in the Ebony at the bolsters and the surface of both scales is really wavy. The grind is also pretty uneven at the tang as you can see in the pictures.
The Pins are Flush which makes me happy :D The pull is softer than I like it, I'd call it a 4.5 and the snap from 1/2 stop to open is pretty slow. It's a pretty user.

Best regards

Robin

I've been tempted by that one, as recently as this morning ;) one thing I noticed when comparing to the Peanut, the Teardrop blades look to be flat ground while the Peanut has hollow ground blades, I feel that the Peanut does a little better in cutting, but for me the weight and length of the handle on the Teardrop wins out :) plus one grip I prefer when using that pen blade is to hold the knife as if it were a pen, when doing fine up close cutting of material on a table top, well not ON the table top, my wife would kill me...again ! ;)

I did sharpen my Teardrop blades, and they both cut much better now than on arrival, it takes some time to even things out when they are sharpened by the factory method, looks like yours will certainly need some fine tuning to bring them back into an orderly set of bevels, but shouldn't be too bad.

My only other nitpic as it were, is the pen blade, it LOOKS great on this knife when closed, such a sublime outline, but I keep looking at the pen blade and envisioning it as a coping blade...maybe I might attempt that, but, I am hesitant to change it's appearance, I'm such a wus ;)

My Redbone version arrived today, yipee! Am I the first in Europe to own one....?:D

I'll give it a quick review: made on 5th April according to the box, I like the DOB on CASE boxes.

PROS. Flush in all three positions (a big thing for a prod knife I feel). Very nice DARK red colour on this version, well worth having-none of that garish pink! EXCELLENT build quality, no gaps, no play, no rough radiusing, both blades centre, the grinds are nice and even on both blades unlike on Robin's version. The snap? It's certainly there you can hear both blades snap back but it's a moderate pull say 6. (my CS knives had much weaker snap) But, you aint want no nail lifter on a gents' knife anyway!

CONS. The centre pin on the pile side had a considerable burr on it making it uncomfortable in the hand. In fairness, this is a very minor issue and a ceramic rod soon smoothed it off. I do think the blade could be a little larger relative to the frame, but aesthetics are always subjective.

VERDICT. Very good effort by CASE, interesting and different pattern that looks good and is great in the pocket/hand. Worth the money? Certainly!

Thanks, Will
