The new Case Bose teardrop

Great photo and good for comparison sake too. Great looking teardrop shape, slender and elegant, a real gentleman's pocket knife. More refined looking shape than the GEC #85 if you ask me and I really like this pattern and would jump on one but...
... I think the main blade is awful. To me it looks like they put all the work into the shape of the handle and the blade is just an after thought; as if they just picked one out of a box that they thought might fit. I was so excited when I saw the pattern then disappointed when I saw it blade open. Did they just run out of imagination at the final stage?

If you look back a page or two, Mr. Bose responded to a similar query that Case produced it just as he designed and that the blade was based on a 1930's Schrade blade.

That wasn't a similar query, it was an insult and would be taken as such.

We all hope those that are unaware of what is really the epitome of the cutlers art, learn something here, Kerry. Keep on posting, please! There are a whole bunch of us that really appreciate seeing and discussing what is going on at Wilfred Works.

Thanks and awwshucks, it'll take more than a goofy comment to run me off? :)

For me this knife is an acquired taste. At first, it didn't grab me--I think mostly because it didn't fit into any preconceived categories of slipjoint that I have come to know and love like Stockman, Trapper, Pen, Muskrat, etc. It was unfamiliar.

The longer I see it though, the more I like it. It's an older pattern and it looks older--from another knife era. I can imagine cutting a quill pen with this knife. I'm starting to really appreciate the lines of this knife, and it wouldn't surprise me to own one.

Justin, thanks for that, somehow I missed an entire page whist I was reading through the thread, this explains the odd shape. I still think it looks a little dull, although I can appreciate the resurrection of an old pattern.

I'm sorry knifehead, I did not mean to insult anybody and I sincerely apologise if it was taken as such.

The Brown Truck of Happiness just left this at my door.

Made my week, and it's only Tuesday.:D

Sometimes a picture is worth more than a thousand words...here's a fine complimentary foto by a Case Forum member of a red pocket worn Tear Drop. The picture was enough for me to have just placed an order for one...

I agree, had to pull the trigger for one of these myself, may help with my ankle, and that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I'm just glad it won't feel like I have a 'tater in my pocket ;)

None of this is helping me choose single blade Barehead or 2 blade Endcap! Wont get both but really can't make up my mind here AAAARRGHHHH!:eek::D

What options will there be in Barehead other than Ebony/Amber anybody know? And, is the shield slightly different on the ones shown from the usual current offering, different script?

Thanks, Will

I really liked the looks of the knife, and was excited to see a couple at a local dealers shop over the weekend. I was more than dismayed to find that the springs didn't have much snap to them when opening and closing them. The pull wasn't bad, it just didn't have that snap that I like to see in CV and SS Bose knives. This was in all of the examples my dealer had. I did pick up a SBJ with CV blades and great snap on both blades.

The two blade has a little more weight to it and the liners are filled with the back spring and polished. Looks really nice and finished. The shape of the small blade fits the knife well and compliments the larger blade. Both are nice but the two blade is my choice if i were only going to get one. The knife is small so it is pretty lite and easy to carry. Hope this is helpful. Nice knife, you will like it. The red is really nice. Price too.

I keep finding other things to buy but I will have one of these in pocket worn red bone soon.

I really want one of the ebony shot show editions too.

I have an affinity for single blade slippies, does anyone know if they will make a single blade version in the red bone? This knife checks a lot of the right boxes for me.

Mine arrived today. I'm very happy with it: 5 pull, no play, no gaps. Maybe a little heavy handed with the sanding buffing around the edges of the barehead covers, but very nice all together. The zulu is a great all-round blade shape for a pocket knife, and it took a nice edge at 600 grit.

Beautiful. How was the walk and talk?

Dan, it had a different walk & talk than I've ever felt. As described, the pull is a nice easy 5, but when past the halfway point on opening, you feel a little resistance, as though the bolsters were just a little tight as the tang went through them to full open. I actually like the feel, it seems very secure and I suspect it limits any play. On closing it's just the same in reverse. Slightly snug the first half with a nice snap from halfway to closed.

I think it would look amazing in raindrop damascus. I have yet to own one of the damascus Case knives, but one of these would seriously make me consider it.

I did not mean to insult anyone. I know that the patterns we used for our forum knives were old patterns. I actually like Case's TD better than the 85 and I like the Wharncliffe Trapper better too. I think Case and Mr. Bose have done an OUTSTANDING job of recreating those knives. I was just expressing the opinion that it seemed that the upper management at Case was making design decisions based on what they see that we like and what others are doing currently.

I did not know that Tony was the one to come up with the designs alone. I figured that Case came to him and said "Make us one like theirs!" I'm sorry if I offended anyone by my earlier post, that was not the intent. I just know that Case has made marketing decisions with in the last few years that were based on a perceived market. See TEC-X.
