The new Gayle Bradley C134CFP, from Spyderco!!

I like it,but I'll need to handle it before I buy one.

Still wish it had a RIL or a backlock, but the LL isn't necessarily a deal breaker.

I really like it! The grind and handle ergos looks great. I wonder how the CF would take to modding a ramp for the thumb...hmmm.

The lock is .072 thick at the interface. I would guess it's at least as strong as any Reeve Intergral Lock (frame-lock)we've tested, and probably stronger. Why would you dislike a linerlock?

You ask this like you expect our preferences to have some kind of logic to them:D

I just don't like liner locks. I've never had one fail, so there's no past history, just a visceral distrust of them. It probably isn't based in logic, but neither are most of my other knife preferences.

I will say that I've seen more LL's with badly adjusted and sloppy locks than any other type, but none of those have been Spydercos.

$215.00 MSRP = a great on-line price.

Yeaf for msrp, but dealer price at KC, CS, KW, WW, BS etc will be less right? I like it but its a little too high priced for me. I thought it was going to be a beefier knife. Also I am not very fond of the blade. It reminds me of a Ralph Turnbull. What is the "blade hump" for? Like why does it rise like that? Instead of being lower and smooth.

Likes:
Hollow ground! :D
M4 steel!
Tip down carry!

Dislikes:
CF scales. Do they really need it? I can't imagine this being a dressy knife.
Taiwan.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHERE ITS FROM AS LONG AS IT WORKS!?!
After all now a days nothing is made in the United States Americas.

David,

They should be out before Christmas. They've ben through QC. Collectors will ship first.

Hi Josh.

Carbon fiber is very tough stuff. That's why it is used for most of it's applications. The fact tht it has an interesting and attractive appearance is a bonus. Taiwan is a place in the world that happens to be where this maker lives and works.

Hey Smoker.

It does matter to many people where something is made. That's why so many companies don't like to inlude country of origin, or "bend" the information.

It's also why we also make knives in the US.

The "hump" in the blade is there to house the opening hole. If Gayle submerged the hole, you couldn't access it without a large cut-out and Gayle designed it with no cut-out.

I can't wait to get mine. A .072" thick liner lock (is it solid or is there a cutout?) if it doesn't have a cutout for closing like a RIL should be amazingly strong for a LL since the Millie is a .055" or so LL and is rated around 135 lbs per inch of blade in strength. I really like the CF on the Sage and was impressed with how they did the liner lock, though it certainly isn't my favorite lock, but my main concern is the steel. I hope they get the CPM M4 every bit as hard as the Mule (62.5 RC), though I may end up getting it re heat treated to 65 RC anyway. This should be an excellent user.

Looks good to me! I like the blade shape, size and geometry. The handle seems like it would be really comfortable too. It's not an especially fancy design, but I bet it would make a great EDC.

I like the blade design. The grind is finally right (not so shallow like the E4s and D4s). The handle doesn't look too comfortable, though.

I'm personally not afraid of liner locks. You really mean to tell me that you're more afraid of a stop pin breaking than a backlock? I don't know about you, but I'm not in the habit of cutting with my knife's spine.

Well put. A lot of those who get very vocal about liner- and frame-locks seem to be folks who like to "test" folders with spinewhacks. :grumpy:

Looks like a great knife, I like the CF and M4. I like the overall look of the knife as well, I will definitely be picking one of these up.

Btw, it is kind of funny how many people complain about liner locks and then turn around and recommend a Millie to someone. Just for the record, I'm not singling anyone out so don't start crying about that statement.

My new LH Millie is. :)

This one looks really tempting with the M4 and high grind. I don't distrust liner locks, it's just that I'm lefty. I don't know how I missed handling the proto at the last Eugene show.
