The new Gayle Bradley C134CFP, from Spyderco!!

Hi Greg,
Sal posted on the Spyderco forums that Rockwell should be 62, but they haven't Rc tested them here yet. Great to hear your comments, I'm anxiously awaiting notice that my pre-order is ready to ship....

Bo.

So is it made in Taiwan? It appears to show a Ta, on the clip side of the blade.
Nevermind I see it is, should have read futher.

Is this limited or regular production?

It is a regular production I believe. Mine came from the show room in Golden (too bad I didn't get a collector numbered one). I had to ask if they had it, because they hadn't put it out yet.

$215 is MSRP - "street price" should be considerably lower.

Are there any other knives on the market right now that use CPM-M4 and carbon fiber with a MSRP lower than $215?

Hi Gine,

The Military is running about 550 inch/lbs per inch. In a 4.0" blade, that puts it into "Heavy Duty" (100-200 inch/lbs per inch of blade length).

Hey Jake,

We were fortunate to fine an excellent maker in "Formosa". We ship steel and other parts/materials from here. Their skills and their ability to "see the difference" is what we need. It is a bonus that the Taiwan dollar is still seaker than the US dollar. We probably gain a few points after shipping materials

We have a few really good makers in Seki. They too can "see the difference". But they, like all excellent makers, have limited capacity and we're always keeping our eyes open for the "good ones".

Recently, the Yen went to 85 and the Seki made models become quite expensive. I believe someone earlier mentioned in this thread that our products were expensive. The more they cost to make, the more they cost to sell.

The Euro, pound and the Yen, are all stronger than the Dollar which goes against favorable costs.

We're continually improving our capacity in the Golden factory, however, the Military, Paramilitary, Manix2 and Native models are also increasing. We also do Mule Teams, Swicks, odd sprints, autos and a few new models in-the-works.

Thanx sal.

I would trust my life with my spyderco military liner lock, its the highest quality liner lock made.

Sal in reference to the linerlock's strength in comparison to "RIL"s, AKA Frame locks.

As far as strength goes, the Military model with the Walker Linerlock breaks at about 550 inch/lbs per inch, which is stronger than any Reeve Integral Lock ("frame-lock") we have tested to date.

Recall that Spyderco Labs also does testing for other manufacturers and custom makers. Who, and what would be confidential, of course, but keep that in mind when thinking about that statement.

more:
While the tang/interface area is greater on RIL's, the weakest link is the cut-out, which is what fails first. The belief is that RIL's are more reliable because of the large interface area.

I'm satisfied that if a heavy duty knife is produced by Spyderco, no matter which lock is chosen it will be up to the job. The Millie, the Manix and Chinooks are examples of that.

I like it, but $215 is a bit pricy for me.

Street price closer to $130-$140 makes that Carbon Fiber and CPM M4 seem pretty good, huh? I'm paying a tad aver $130 for mine, and it is a serious bargain for the materials and fit and finish (assuming it is like the Sage I had from I believe the same maker).

One on the way for me. It already looked better and more interesting in a video than in the pics. But I have the feeling that this is one of the knives that you have to hold in your hand to appreciate it.

I will see- some time next year. Still 6 knives in transit from the US that should (finally) arrive before the M2A3... eh Bradley turns up ;)

I am looking forward to getting mine. CPM M4, what more do I need to say.

I paid $139 and think i got it for a steal!! I never pay retail from SFO. Why pay more if a dealer gives it to you for one third less. If i had to pay retail i wouldnt be a Spyderco collector...its too exspensive. I love them all and want them all.

got one coming for $145 shipped. I think this will be one of those "I wish" knives in future years for those who didn't get in on it when they were available.

Hi Joe,

We test competitors products, but not "for" them. We are not accredited to test so we just do it for our own information. We do some testing for Crucible and Carpenter steel foundries, but again, it is just for their own information and the information cannot be used for marketing or promotion.

Thanks for the correction Sal. Sorry I got it wrong somehow. I was thinking about something written about the Catra tester long ago. Joe
