The New Northeast Hammer-in - Essex, Vermont, July 2007

Well, I've got to finish packing things up and then I'm heading out! I'll be stopping in to meet up with J. Neilson today and tomorrow afternoon we'll be meeting with the rest of our contingent and heading North to VT.

See you folks there!

Hi guys,

Like all of you, I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

I regret that I will be travelling up on saturday and cannot get there any earlier than in the evening. I have SO much work to get accomplished before I wrap up my studio and fly it, and my wife, and my son, and myself to the Guild Show next thursday. From there we are hanging around Walt Disney World for four days.

I only have 40 dealer knives left to edit and shoot before leaving.... I shouldn't complian, but this IS a part time job...

I have a setup I will display that EVERYONE can duplicate for WAY less than $100, and we will do some examples. From the audience, of course.... Plus a discussion of the how's, why's, and DO NOTS. :D I even brought a small supply of that elusive Vellum diffuser material for others, that makes it all happen.

I am camping in the back of my mini-van. Nice.;)

I'm hitting the road in a hour, gonna drive across NY in the rain, listening to bad music and likely having a blast with my buddy Dave, who's coming with me. He'll probably have LOTS of questions for you, Coop, as he loves photography!

Louis, don't worry about Mace, he's really just a big cuddly teddy bear.

In work boots.

Kinda like the construction worker in the Village People, I guess...:barf: :barf: :D

Hey Guys!

Man, I just got in.... I was in New York this am and I'm home in my tiny Washington town now.

It was awesome finally getting to meet so many of you guys that I've just yacked with on here!!!

Derrick... Absolutely FIRST RATE my friend!!!

I had a blast, I'm very VERY glad that I got to make it. The demos were freak'n awesome. Thanks very much to Burt, Joe, Dan, Kris, and Mace for their contributions... awesome stuff.

I'm betting there's probably still a couple guys I didn't meat... but I tried to make the rounds! :D

Thanks Derrick and Thanks everybody for coming. I hope we can prod Derrick into another one when he's ready! :D

Info overload once again. Absolutley stellar weekend. Fri. night cocktails greet and meet it was raining steady and I was thinking all we need now is thunder and lightning, then saturday morning out came the sun gods to shine on us. Weather could'nt have been better. Seminars were great! Presenters kept things rolling smoothly and kept my somewhat short attention span riveted. Really enjoyed the casual conversation between the seminars and comparing notes. The one tip I pulled away from this weekend that just smacked me in the back of the head as if saying "stupid" was Dan Farr's handle shaping tip, take your fine sheets of emery paper and put packing tape on the back , then cut it into strips. It'll never tear apart no matter how thin you cut it. That alone is going to save me a ton of paper. A real pleasure meeting all . Thanks Derek, great job by yourself and any help you might have had. Paul

I had a blast. I'm really glad you all came. And don't thank me for anything - it was all the other folks that made it such a successful event. The demonstrators, the volunteers and the attendees - I just couldn't have asked for a better group of guys and I'm lucky to be able to call you all friends.

Danbo, real sorry you weren't able to make it, but at least we all got to see your knife. It came out great, my friend!

Just a terrific event - great host and location, fantastic demonstrations, super bunch of guys and a TON of helpful information. Here's hoping this becomes an annual event.

Roger

PS - Great to finally meet you Nick! Danbo - sorry bro.

I don't know if I can say any more than has already been said. Derrick, your a heck of a guy and a great host to open you home to us all. Our demonstrators were, of course, first rate and teach me more and more every time I see them. Thanks very much to Joe, Burt, Dan and Nick for all the tips and time off to the side. The weather was great and the company was cool...... even you LaBella.
:D

I look forward to doing it again next year.
Thanks again,
J.

It was a great time and Derrick deserves a lot of thanks no matter how much he tries to shrug it off. So do Burt, Joe, Dan, Chris and Coop for great, well organized tutorials. So does Mace for hosting the green coal forge area and not killing Mike and Matt:eek:

I've finally got some pictures up, some have captions and the really bad or redundant ones have been weeded out. Please feel free to add your own comments:
